King's Landing, 109-120

The years had passed and court had been quiet. The children had grown and all had their own dragons except for Prince Aemond. Alicent would often gossip about the king's firstborn son, the prince had no dragon yet her bastard sons did. Her sons, Aegon and Daeron had their dragons, sunfyre, and tessarion. Rhaenys and her family often found themselves at court, Laena and Laenor were around Rhaenyra and her siblings more often than apart.

In the years when Alyria was queen, the Keep was more lively than ever. The royal children and their loyal companions were never far apart from each other. Princess Rhaenyra and Princess Helaena had Jeyne Arryn, a cousin of hers along with their other cousin, the lady Laena Velaryon, and their other ladies Sara Stark, Cassandra Baratheon, Elena Tyrell, and Alysanne Blackwood. The young princes had their cousin Laenor Velaryon and their brother, Gwayne Hightower, and the other lords, Benjicot Blackwood, Davos Blackwood, Cregan Stark, and Brandon Stark. Their mother wished for them to have other friends other than each other.

Rhaenyra enjoyed having other people to interact with, her stepmother would often make trips to the City, and the young princess and her siblings would join her. Otto Hightower was a master manipulator, he had done it to Viserys for years, but after Daemon and Alyria took their roles in the council, the king would not often ask him for advice as he once used to. Alyria slowly but surely made sure her father lost his power. And little by little he did.

Queen Alyria had many children with her husband. She had her firstborn son, Prince Aemond (106), Princess Helaena (108), and the twins Prince Baelon and Maegor (109). Princess Alyssa (111) came two years later when Princess Rhaenyra was ten and four. When Princess Rhaenyra was ten and five her father thought it was time for her to marry. Her mother advised against it. She bought her daughter another year. Rhaenyra knew it was best to marry Laenor to create a union that would help her in the future.

In the year 114, Princess Rhaenyra took the birthing bed for the first time, she gave birth to a son who she named Jacaerys Velaryon, the boy was truly his father's son. That same year, queen Alyria gave birth to a daughter who she named Ceryse, she was older than her nephew by three moons. Alyria had been there when her daughter gave birth and Princess Rhaenyra was thankful. As the years had passed the princess took to call the queen mother. She would never forget her mother, the late queen Aemma but she had a deep affection and love for Alyria Hightower as she had never left her side and made sure she had all the love a mother could offer and of course, a secure place in her father's court.

The year before, 113, Alyria finally rid herself of her father and Otto Hightower was sent away from court, leaving Alicent powerless, alone, and once again. Just three moons after Otto's departure Alicent left as well. Queen Alyria proposed a marriage between Daemon and Lady Laena as a union was needed and the two married. That same year, Lady Laena gave birth to her first child, a girl who they named Baela. The young babe was her mother's daughter in looks, but her personality was that of her father.

Her brother, Ser Gwayne married Leila Strong, Ser Lyonel's daughter. And on the first day of the first moon of 115, they welcomed a daughter into the world. Soreya Hightower. Truly her mother's daughter. That same year, Princess Rhaenyra gave birth once again to another son who she named Lucerys. He was his mother's son. That year, Lady Laena gave birth to another daughter who she named Rhaena in honor of her mother, Rhaenys.

King Viserys was happy. He loved his daughter. Rhaenyra had been his joy and his younger children kept his happiness. He spent his days with Aemond, the two shared their love for history. They spent hours speaking of the Old Valyria. Rhaenyra would take her brother on dragon rides with her given that he was the only one without a dragon.

Aera Targaryen came in the year 116. The young child took after her mother more than her father, but she had the Targaryen purple eyes. She had her dragon who she named Lilac for her dragon was of lilac color with green bluish eyes. During that time, Rhaenyra and Laena were both pregnant, their children would be a few moons younger than their aunt. Queen Alyria deemed Aera her last child, by then, the queen had seven children. Three sons and four daughters.

In the year 117, both Laena and Rhaenyra took the birthing bed one more time. The lady Laena gave birth to a son who Daemon named Aelor after his niece, Rhaenyra had a son who she named Aeron after her sister. In the year 118 Leila gave birth to a son who they named Edrick. Both children of Ser Gwayne recognized Alyria as their grandmother and King Viserys as their grandfather, Daemon as their uncle, and Rhaenyra as their aunt. Gwayne as the years passed became Alyria's son as she had been the one to raise him. King Viserys brought teachers to teach him or had him have his lessons with his own children. Alyria's new family became his family, and the family took him in.

In the year 120, queen Alyria was two and thirty when the maester told her she was with child. Her trusted midwife told her this pregnancy might not be as easy as the others. Yet the queen told her she would continue with her pregnancy. The pregnancy took a toll on the queen and the people saw less of her as the months went by. Prince Daemon worried for his good sister as did Rhaenys. In her last few months, the Princess Rhaenys came to see her and spent time with her. The queen did not want her children to see her like that. Prince Aemond was then four and ten and worried for his mother as did his other siblings. Rhaenyra feared the worst, she had lost her mother to childbirth and she did not wish to lose her other mother.

The day her labors began the realm held its breath. Queen Alyria went into labor on the twenty sixth day of the last moon of the year 120 in the early morning. The night came and the queen called her children, thinking that perhaps she would not make it. She spoke to them and they all worried, they held their tears to ease their mother's pain. Rhaenyra didn't leave her side once, neither did Gwayne nor Daemon as she had been a mother to Gwayne and Daemon a good friend and ally.

The king stood by her side, never leaving her side. Viserys had learned from his mistake. Throughout their years of marriage, the two had become close friends and lovers. They shared seven children and they had been happy. She had been an ally to him, a confidant, and a friend. She took care of him in every aspect. It was Alyria who had found a maester and healer from the Free Cities to take care of her husband and the king healed, others whispered that after Otto and his other daughter left, he began to heal as Alyria sent the maester that was there back to the Citadel.

"I am no stranger to childbirth" the queen spoke. Rhaenyra, Gwayne, Rhaenys, Daemon and Laena were in the room. "If this is my time I only ask for simple things" she began. "Don't let my children be alone. Don't let them feel unloved or unwanted. Make them feel protected and cared for as I have done for you. And when the time comes, help Rhaenyra ascend to the Iron Throne like I once hoped to see" Rhaenyra's eyes stung from the tears that were ready to come. "Don't let my grandchildren forget me" Rhaenys felt for her.

The queen was in the birthing bed for four days and three nights. On the last day of the year 120, the queen gave birth one last time, bringing into the world two sons. Aemon Targaryen and Rhaegar Targaryen. The midwife and maester did not see her surviving the next few days and the realm prayed for their queen. Rhaneyra felt angry, there was nothing she could do for her or to help her. The only thing that could be done was to wait and hope that the queen makes it past the next few days. The question is, can she make it? Or will she end up like many women?
