"We both know that's impossible. Especially for you, Raven."
"Well, I'd be lying if I did not desire her and want to keep her. She's like an animal who's the last of its kind after all. Maybe that's why I desire her." She just laughed at my reply. Well, it's the truth: I truly desire her—not just her body but also her love and soul.
"You're seriously comparing her beauty to that of an endangered animal?" She uttered in the middle of her laughs. So, I glared at her, which made her stop. "I mean, that's not what I meant. I truly never thought I'd see you one day simping for your potential killer."
Killer? I never considered her one. I consider her more like my beautiful apocalypse. She was both my chaos and my salvation. O ólethros mou.
"I have to get going now. I have a child to take care of." There she goes again, mentioning the child. Whose child is it exactly? "I know you're wondering whose it is. But it's not mine, ok? It's just that her mother is busy. So, I had to take care of her."
"Mother? What about the father, then? "I couldn't help but ask.
"A total asshole like my father," she replied as her face darkened. I get it now. It's her flings' kid. But I never really pictured her as a great babysitter. I just hope the baby is okay.
"I'm off now, young mistress." She bid her goodbye and left, leaving me alone in the room. I stared at the ceiling as I recalled Hades words about Ria's twin brother.
"He's like the boy version of her." Damn. I need to get it off my mind. So, I left the headquarters and proceeded to my empire. Before entering, I changed my clothes, and as soon as my employees saw me, they immediately bowed down to me as a sign of respect. Which I dismissed. I proceeded to my office and drowned myself in paper work. Before I knew it, the sun was setting, and one of the guards came up to me.
"Master, it's already late. Are you planning to stay here through the night? "he asked.
"I'll be fine here; I still have a lot of paper works to finish, you see." I replied and gestured at the mountain of paper works on my table. I lied, of course. While it's true that I do have a lot of paper work, I also can't bear the idea of going home and having to face my parents. I'm afraid to hear their plans for the future, even if I know that the result will be the same. I won't be able to change both their decisions, nor will I chain them in a loveless marriage just for my sake after all.
"Can I get you some drinks or food, at least, Miss? "I heard my stomach grumble a little. Right, I haven't eaten since earlier.
"A burrito and a matcha latte will do," I told him, and moments later he excused himself and told me he'd be back in a while.
"Show yourself. There's no point hiding when I can clearly see through you," I uttered as I noticed a presence within the shadow in front of my office. I heard it clap, and he then revealed itself. As he revealed himself, his smirk became visible. He was wearing a mask and a hooded cloak, but somehow he feels familiar. Like I know him from somewhere. But where?"Impressive. You truly have an impressive talent of spotting your enemy," he stated with his voice cold and deep.
"What do you want? "I asked him back.
"If I told you I wanted your head, would you give it to me? "He asked as if mocking me.
"Depends on your reason? "I stated with a smirk plastered on my face as I reached for the katana in my back, which I successfully sheathed and pointed at him.
"Sora." He read the words engraved in my katana. Shit, I completely forgot that my codename is engraved on my sword.
"No need to use violence; I knew you were Sora even before entering your lair," he said when he noticed my shocked expression. "I just want to deliver something from the new head of the Vollerei. He told me to give you a message about an upcoming war within the underworld." New head? Did the old man pass his authority? How strange. He's not the type to do it.
