Alone in the Crowd

Hana's birthday party was in full swing, and Soo-min was doing her best to blend into the background. 

The room was filled with laughter and music, and Taehyung was by Hana's side all time, his arm wrapped around her. 

They looked so in love. Tch. This stupid sadness.

"Hello Miss Jang Soo-Min, glad you could make it to your 'own best friend's birthday party', after a lotttttttt of requests." Hana said a sarcastic smile with, hugging her tightly, to which Soo-min laughed full-heartly.

'This girl will never change.' Soo-min thought with small smile.

"Happy Birthday, Hana!" Soo-min said, in a genuine a cheerful tone. 

She gave Hana a gift and tried to enjoy the party, but the sight of Taehyung and Hana together was too much.

As the evening wore on, Soo-min watched them dance, stealing kisses and share sweet moments. 

Each glance at Taehyung felt like a stab in her heart. Feeling tears prickle at the corners of her eyes.

She excused herself to the bathroom, where she stared at her reflection, trying to hold back her tears. 

"I should be happy for them," she repeated to herself. "They're so perfect together."

But it was hard to ignore the ache in her chest. "Am I living in a lie?" she asked her reflection, feeling more alone than ever.

As she re-joined the party, she forced a smile. 

The party lights flickered softly as everyone around Soo-min, danced and laughed. She sat on the couch, drink in hand, smiling at the jokes she didn't hear. Everyone else seemed to fit in just fine, but she felt like she didn't quite belong.
