Fading in Silence

Soo-min was alone in the park, sitting on a bench and staring at the playground. The soft glow of the setting sun kissed her skin, but she barely noticed. 

Her eyes fixed on the empty playground, lost in thought. The world around her seemed so full of life, but inside, she felt hollow.

She had ditched the study group just to sit here. Needed a break—from pretending.

Her phone buzzed with a message,

Hana:  Hey, we're hitting the movies tonight 🎬🍕! Join us for some fun and popcorn mayhem! 🎉🍿

Soo-min stared at the message, typing back slowly, her fingers trembling.

Soo-min:  "Sorry, I have a lot of work to catch up on 📚💼." 

Another lie, she thought. 

Well, it was easier than explaining why she couldn't bear to see them together. Why her heart ached every time she did.

A couple passed by, holding hands, laughing softly. Soo-min's eyes followed them, her heart sinking. She swallowed hard, her thoughts bitter. 'Their happiness feels like a constant reminder of my loneliness.' Her throat burned with unshed tears.

Taehyung's face flashed in her mind—his easy smile, the way he looked at Hana. Soo-min's stomach twisted. 

"Why does seeing them together make me feel so....... worthless?" Her lips quivered, but she forced herself to stay quiet, to hold it all in.

As the sun disappeared, Soo-min stood, her shoulders slumped under the weight of it all.

The darkness settled around her, and she walked away, feeling like a shadow.
