'The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.'
Proverbs 12:22

"You two spend the day together" I suggest to Evangeline, and Lillian.
"I'll be fine on my own, there isn't much to do today, anyway" I say kissing Evangeline's forehead, before standing up, and grabbing my keys.
"Okay, I'll see you later" I smile, before waving and heading out the door, a part of me didn't want Evangeline with me, knowing my father was most likely probably waiting in my office already, and even if he wasn't it gave me some time to think about, how this situation could be handled. As I walk through the back entrance, my phone vibrates in my back pocket, with a message from Evangeline, causing me to stop in my tracks and a smile gracing my face.
Evangeline: If you need anything let me know x
Gabriel: I will, love you.
Evangeline: I love you too.
I slide my phone back into my back pocket and push my office door open, and lo and behold, my father is sat in the chair behind my desk, a look of pure anger covers his face, eyes set in a deep v shape, and a frown on his lips. There's a sense of freedom, knowing that while I stand in front of him, I have the upper hand for once, that I'm one step in front of him rather than behind.
"No rabid guard dog today?" He simply says, as my nostrils flare.
"First of all, don't talk about her like that, and secondly, how would you expect her to react, to you pounding on her door at nearly 1am?" I quip back. His eye twitches as I stand in front of him, my arms crossed.
"I'll call her whatever I damn well please" He almost shouts, my jaw ticks, but I choose to remain calm, I don't want to give an inkling to any potential relationship I have.
"Where were you, boy? Not a single person saw you at that conference" He asks sternly.
"I was unwell, food poisoning" I simply say, not delving into any details, his face twists.
"Evangeline, unwell too?" I flinch.
"I'm not sure, we weren't together, we flew in together, but she went elsewhere" I shrug my shoulders.
"So lying is just coming natural to you now?" He says, chucking his phone up right on the table open to a picture. I narrow my eyes and walk over, to look down. It's a picture of Evangeline and I walking down the street, holding hands. It was the dinner I took her on, me and her dressed formally. It seems to have been taken a fair distance away from us, based on the cars driving past.
"So you have people spying on me now" I snap back, annoyance evident in my voice at this point.
"You're lying to me, after I told you to keep your distance" My father stands, and bangs his hands on the desk, causing various items to shake, as he spits out his statement.
"Then why did you hire her, if you didn't want me around her" I say, as he rounds the table towards me.
"Because the last thing I expected was you to be messing around her with her, and it was my mistake believing she was any better than she was four years ago, you naive, boy" he steps closer, as I stand in the same position, in an attempt to not falter under his demand and pressure.
