(If Yamaguchi had a younger brother!) Chapter 6-7

Part 2

The upcoming week promised to be another one filled with a busy schedule of training and hard work. Coach Ukai came up to check on the team after being gone for some period. He said to have visited Hokkaido for a bit, to spend quality time with relatives there. Given that he had been there for a considerable duration, he wasn't used to us new players being around, especially Uchi. He'd sometimes cringed at the sight of Uchi not being able to receive any balls properly, thinking hard on what he could do to improve his passing. 

"Hey, you boy. You need to train harder if you want to keep up with them!" He pointed out to Uchi.

"Yes sir!"

The advisor came rushing in with some notes in his hands. (Yall, I had just realized I haven't introduced Mr Takeda into the story yet ToT - the story line feels a little messed up doesn't it..........DON'T MIND IT THO IMA TRY AND MAKE UP FOR IT)

Coach Ukai turned around to see him and asked, "Ah, Takeda, do you have any notes on the new club member here?" 

I eavesdropped a bit, wanting to hear more about the conversation that had just started, in case there was some info about the players who were in the starting line-up or about the upcoming games in general. 

"Yes! I was just about to show them to you since I heard you came back today! There's two new players here, and one of them I heard is a sibling from one of the first boys you taught, Tadashi Yamaguchi." 

"Ah, don't worry, I've met Yokota already. Tadashi brought him to one of the games, so I had the chance to talk with him for a bit."

"Ohh! Alright, well if you do need some info about him, here are the notes- and there's a new club member named Yukio Uchido, right over there" He pointed out to the black-haired male who Coach Ukai had pointed out earlier. 

"Ah yes, that boy really needs to practice more often, his passes really do suck..."

Katsu had noticed Coach Ukai and Mr Takeda over the entrance, so he hurried over to them. Coach Ukai had turned over to see Katsu walk over to them, and asking something. I think he asked, while observing each one of us from his shoulder, "So, have you decided who to pick for the starting line-up during the preliminaries? Just remember to pick players who can easily adjust to the game play of different teams, whether its offensive or defence. " 

I could just barely hear what Katsu said from where I was standing, but the most words I could hear were "Yes, I've already picked one of the first years into the line-up. I'll be there too, same with Masato and..."

"I see, thanks Nazumi, I'll observe the others more, thanks again. I'll go to another meeting now, take care Nazumi, and Takeda."

"No worries, Coach!" Katsu answered. 

Katsu hurried back to the second and third years who were passing the ball to each other on one half of the court whilst me, Uchi, Shigeo and Masato were practicing out sets with each other on the other half. "Shigeo, Shigeo" Uchi called out to him before he passed the ball. "What's Coach Ukai like?" 

"Hm, well I guess he's alright, but he's kind of changed. You might have not noticed right now, but ever since last year, he's been obsessed with making the team as strong as possible. So, he's been having long chats with the captains every year about the starting line-up. He wants the best players to play on the court the longest. Have you seen some games when Yokota's brother was in high school? I know Yokota has but have you Uchi?"

"Loads"

"Yeah, ever since they left the school, He's been making us work harder when he's here. It was when he left to visit relatives that we all finally had a break. It has been hell before you guys came, and I'm concerned if Uchi can even make it past through training."
