Chapter 10
(At Johzenji's side)
"What was that silly ass gameplay of yours? Can't you all try any better??" Masashi groaned.
The rest of the team had stayed quiet, not wanting to say something if it was out of line.
Masashi insisted in someone speaking, bothered by the fact that all of them were scared to talk back. "Well? Say something you maggots. What are you all going to do next set?"
"Win the n-next set, Masashi..." Takamoto spoke quietly.
"What? I can't hear you."
"Win the next set!"
"Of course we're going to do that. But it ain't what I'm looking for idiots. We're going to beat their asses. We're going to make them cry like it's the end of the world. Crush them so hard the memory of them losing to us will forever be etched in their tiny peanut brains. Are you all listening maggots?"
"Yes sir!"
"You better, if y'all don't I'm kicking you out the team, yes maggots?"
Johzenji's coach had over-heard the conversation about beating up Karasuno to a crisp, but was stunned that Masashi was telling his team that we would kick them all out the team if they didn't win.
"Masashi! Contain yourself! That's no way a captain should speak or treat their team." The coach spoke up.
"Now you're acting just like that stupid Karasuno captain... and does it look like I care? Shut up Coach. I'm going to lead the team into victory."
The rest of the team stayed quiet, looking down and contemplating on why they all joined the team if they were going to have this type of captain.
"Let's go maggots."
"Yes captain!'
(Back at Karasuno's side)
"I really despise their captain; they shouldn't have to deal with someone like him!" Uchi complained while looking at Johzenji's side.
"Indeed. Why is he even captain if he can't even act like one?" Shigeo joined in.
I crossed my arms and joined the two, "He might have changed...I heard some time ago that he used to be like every other captain, caring and supportive. But I guess something happened and yeah. Here he is right now."
"You all don't have to worry about that right now you three." Katsu came up from behind us. "Just focus on getting the next set. I'll have a chat with him after the first game... Karasuno, let's fight!" Katsu yelled looking back, pulling his fist into the air.
"YEAH!"
*whistles*
「End of time out! 」
The second set begins, with Karasuno appearing as spirited and carefree as ever, while Johzenji demeanour was dark and filled with doubt. The team was just scolded, and their morale was depressing.
Just looking at their members made me think of Tadashi and mom. Why? Why play volleyball if it makes you feel like this? Just quit then. Why should they waste their time on feeling down all the time when they can be enjoying their days hanging out with friends or relaxing back at home? Just, why?"Yamaguchi, you're pouting." Katsu patted by back. I flinched a bit, feeling a little confused.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Sorry Nazumi."
"We don't need to be so sad all the time. Enjoy your moments in the court! Look at our bench players." He pointed. "They all barely get to play. They train as hard as we are, but still. Only a few of them had their time as starters. And the thing I like about each one of them is they all had smiles on their faces in the court whenever they played, even if the situation we were in was challenging. Be like them. We aren't like Johzenji. We are Karasuno, and at Karasuno, we try our hardest!" His genuine smile had made me calmer.
