Both me and my guest, Vestal, continue to eat in silence. Minutes turn longer as we mostly finish up our meals when vestal speaks up
Vestal: So... Are you dead set against bringing the others from their slumber?
I don't respond as I continue to eat.
Vestal: Please, be a grown up and talk-
Me: There is nothing to talk about.
I put my empty plate into the sink and finish up my drink.
Me: I am an Arleigh Burke class destroyer; in case you haven't noticed. I am one of the most powerful destroyers of my time with weaponry that can destroy navies and wipe out cities... I made a pledge to defend the constitutional rights of every American in home and abroad.
I point to where the cells are.
Me: They are MY prisoners of war, and I am responsible for their safety, enemy or not. They are a security risk if I keep all of them in their kansen forms, it is safer in their cubes as I deem fit. As in the Geneva Conventions under captured Kansen regulations.
I bring out a book from a hidden pocket in my uniform and open it to a section and gave Vestal to read.
Me: Under the Kansen outlines, all kansen are to be kept under their captured status. If security risk becomes a high risk, they are to be kept in cube form until the risk is situated. AKA, that one will stay as she is, while the rest stay as they are, no exceptions.
Just then Aegis butts in with a warning.
Aegis: (inner thoughts) Spy radar detects multiple aircraft taking off and are making their way towards us.
--------
In the skies above Norway, a dozen JU88s continue to climb in height with a strange weapon under their bellies as they continue towards our position from U-556 as she is giving target analysis to her colleagues.
After some time, the bombers level off and increase speed towards the ships.
--------
I head into the CIC along with Vestal as she takes in the view of all the monitors of different systems projecting. I didn't mind this and pulled up a tactical map of the area in real time with small red triangles designated as aircraft.
I then pull up more information to see that they are at an attitude where they might bomb the slow-moving ships.
--------
As the aircraft starts to come towards the convoy, the strange objects fall away from the aircraft, who then start to turn away very sharply. After a few moments, the back end of the object turns on and in the northern light's aura, a black missile appears in shape as it runs towards the ships at increasing speed.
--------
An alert noise echoes through the room as the radar picks up confirmed missile launch as dozens of circles appear on the screen and head towards me and the convoy.
Me: Open fire all missile batteries, activate countermeasures.
Outside, multiple chaff and flares fire into the air as their bright lights light up my profile as I try to defend myself. My SPS 32 begins to "hunt" the missiles along with my lasers as they begin tracking the threat.
Meanwhile, multiple ESSMs launch from the silos and head towards the enemy. After some tense seconds, multiple missiles are destroyed, while another wave of missiles (sm-2) head towards the aircraft as they try to evade them, but with no countermeasures to fool them... They blow up like fireworks.
