Omega

The next day, Gu Wei woke up a little later than usual, feeling slightly unwell but he waved it off as nothing. Just then, a knock on the door sounded and he got up to open the door to reveal Lan Wangji's ethereal face (albeit his beautiful features were shrouded in nervousness. After all, Gu Wei ended up slamming the door in his face the night before.)

"Come in." Gu Wei said as he walked aside, gesturing for Lan Wangji to enter without making any eye contact.

After entering his room, Lan Wangji closed the door behind him and stood there awkwardly, uncertain about how to approach Gu Wei. He inhaled deeply before opening his mouth. "Did you sleep well, Wei Ying?" he asked tentatively, trying to gauge Gu Wei's mood before anything else.

"Mmhmm." Gu Wei replied noncommittally.

Lan Wangji inhaled again before asking, "Are you still angry at me?"

Gu Wei shrugged his shoulder, the silence was his answer.

The alpha hesitated for a few more seconds before sighing softly. He then (dramatically) dropped to his knees with a swish of his robes, kneeling in front of the omega. "I reflected. I was wrong. Please forgive me." He murmured solemnly.

Is he for real??

Gu Wei couldn't believe his eyes at the maneuver that was soap opera worthy, "Lan Zhan! Are you insane?! What are you doing? Get up!" He exclaimed, pulling the alpha off his knees to make him stand up but Lan Wangji was resolute in staying where he was. "Get up at once!" Gu Wei repeated more urgently.

Lan Wangji was proven to be head strong. "I will not get up until Wei Ying forgives me."

This stubborn brat! Someone might think that he committed adultery or something if they saw him like this!

"You're being ridiculous, Lan Zhan. Stop this nonsense!" Gu Wei growled in frustration.

The alpha remained kneeling in front of him, looking into the omega with his golden pleading eyes. "Forgive me, Wei Ying."

Good grief! Is he giving me puppy eyes now?

Gu Wei sighed deeply before running a frustrated hand through his hair, "You're driving me crazy." He muttered under his breath.

"I'm sorry." Lan Wangji apologized.

Gu Wei groaned audibly, "Okay, fine. Get up now." He conceded.

Lan Wangji didn't get up immediately, his eyes trained on Gu Wei's eyes, seeking for confirmation. "Do you forgive me?" he asked again hopefully.

"Yes! Yes! So, you better get up now before I change my mind!" Gu Wei insisted, throwing his hands in the air, "Unbelievable ." He added before pinching the bridge of his nose.

Lan Wangji smiled sheepishly at the omega before standing up slowly, brushing off the dust from his clothes. He walked closer to the omega. "Thank you." He murmured gratefully, taking ahold of the omega's hand and lifted it to his lips, kissing the fingers gently.

"Don't do it again," Gu Wei warned, "And if you ever use your pheromones on me like that again, I won't be as forgiving anymore."

Lan Wangji nodded solemnly. "I promise." He said, leaning forward, ready to seal his vow with a kiss that promised to be sweet as summer fruit. But just as their lips were about to meet, Gu Wei pressed a hand against Lan Wangji's mouth, halting him in his tracks. The Alpha's expression flickered with a mix of surprise and disappointment.

"Let me wash up first," the omega mumbled, as he lowered his hand.

Lan Wangji's lips curved slightly. "I'll prepare the tub." With that, he released Gu Wei and stepped away. The alpha returned in no time, bustling about with an air of purpose that was almost endearing. With a focused expression, he set about preparing everything personally with impressive efficiency. But that wasn't all-he'd even brought along a tray of breakfast and setting them up on the table like a seasoned waiter in fine dining restaurant as he waited for Gu Wei to finish up in the bath. It was clear he was going out of his way to please the omega, and the sight of his dedication brought a soft smile to Gu Wei's lips.

Gu Wei took a seat at the table, watching with amusement as Lan Wangji carefully poured tea for him. "Lan Zhan ." he called.

"Hm?" The alpha responded, looking over at the omega expectantly.

"Come closer." Gu Wei beckoned with his hand.

"Okay." Lan Wangji obediently obliged and approached the omega's side.

Gu Wei smirked as he pulled Lan Wangji to sit beside him and turned his head to kiss the alpha. Lan Wangji was startled by the sudden movement, but he soon reciprocated the kiss, taking over control as he wrapped his arms around Gu Wei's waist. They broke apart for air, foreheads pressed together with a small smile resting on their lips. Lan Wangji brushed the stray hairs framing Gu Wei's face before planting a soft kiss on the omega's forehead.

"Eat first." He suggested, placing another kiss on the side of his mouth.

"Alright." Gu Wei agreed with a contented hum. "Let's eat."

They ate in silence, occasionally stealing glances at each other. Once done, Lan Wangji cleared up the bowls, getting up to bring back the tray to the kitchen when he suddenly halted as the omega reached for his wrist gently. "What is it, Wei Ying?" he murmured, turning around to face Gu Wei once again.

"Lan Zhan, can I ask you a question?" Gu Wei requested.

"Sure." The alpha replied with a nod.

"What if the one you're fated with isn't me?" the omega asked quietly. Lan Wangji stared at him for a moment, before his face crumpled in confusion. "Why would you say that?" he wondered.

"What if the person you're supposed to be with isn't me?" Gu Wei clarified.

Lan Wangji furrowed his brows, perplexed by the omega's words. "Wei Ying... You and I are bonded by destiny and nothing can change that. You're the only one for me."

"But..." Gu Wei averted his gaze , his tone faltering slightly. "What if I'm not the one?"

Wei Wuxian is.

Lan Wangji put down the tray back on the table, his fingers finding Gu Wei's chin gently. "You're my mate, Wei Ying."

But I am not Wei Ying.

"So, you only like me because we're mates?" the omega asked quietly.

Lan Wangji blinked, taken aback by the omega's unexpected query. "Wei Ying, I like you even before I knew you're my fated omega. I like you from the first moment I saw you. I couldn't stop thinking about you since then." He confessed sincerely.

Ah... That's not me.

"Ah... I see ." The omega replied simply, smiling faintly despite the throbbing ache in his heart. Lan Wangji likes Wei Wuxian. Not him. He took a deep breath and swallowed hard.

"Wei Ying... Are you okay?" Lan Wangji asked, concerned, noticing how tense the omega looked.

"I am," Gu Wei smiled weakly, shaking his head, "I think I ate too much food today." He lied, trying to sound convincing.

Lan Wangji frowned, but didn't press further. "I shall meet you at the tent later." He said, taking the tray of empty bowls once more .

"Okay," the omega replied quietly, letting Lan Wangji go. He stood up with slow movements, trying to hide his growing pain in his heart. And his head.

Gu Wei was feeling quite miserable but he pushed his emotions aside and concentrate on attending to the patients. He didn't realized that the time had come until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up, seeing Xiao Xingchen behind him with a look of concern.

"I think you should go back to you room now, Shizi. You're on the verge of having a heat period." Xiao Xingchen stated.

Gu Wei blinked, "H-heat?" he echoed dumbly.

"You're leaking pheromones." Xiao Xingchen informed.

"But... I-" Gu Wei cut himself off as realization hit him like a train.

Oh shit! I forgot to take the pills for a few days now!!
