Himachal Pradesh, known for its breathtaking mountains and serene landscapes, also hides tales of the paranormal that add a dark and mysterious edge to its beauty. For young adventurers , here's a list of some haunted locations in the state. These stories combine local legends with spine-chilling experiences, offering just the right amount of suspense for curious readers.

1. Tunnel No. 33, Shimla

 Tunnel No. 33, located on the Shimla-Kalka railway line, is famously haunted by the ghost of Colonel Barog, a British engineer who tragically committed suicide during its construction. Visitors to the tunnel have reported hearing mysterious footsteps and whispers in the darkness. Some claim to have seen apparition of colonel Barog Himself, calmly wandering in the tunnel, lost in his thoughts.

2. Charleville Mansion, Shimla

Charleviller Mansion, a colonial era house, is one of the most famous haunted places in Shimla. The mansion is said to be haunted by the spirit of a British officer who one lived there. People have reported unexplained noises. objects moving on their own, and sightings of ghostly figures in the mansion's halls. Those who've stayed there claim to have felt a chilling presence watching them.

3. The Chudali Baudi (Witch's Well),  Shimla-Kalka Highway

The Chudali Baudi is an infamous well on the Shimla-Kalka Highway, rumored to be haunted by a ghost of a witch. Legend says she appears as an woman asking for a lift, and if anyone stops, they meet with an accident. Drivers have reported seeing a strange woman at night, and those who stopped for her often feel an eerie presence in their cat, leading to accidents or strange malfunctions. 

4. Dukhani House, Shimla

Dukhani House, another colonial-era bungalow in Shimla is said to be haunted by a British woman who roams the halls. Her tragic story in one of love and Loss, which keeps here spirit tied to the house.  Residents and visitors have experienced cold spots, seen doors opening and closing on their own, and heard a woman sobbing in the dead of night. Some have reported fleeting glimpses of a pale figure in a white dress.

5. Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla

 The medical college in Shimla is rumored to have paranormal activity, especially in its morgue and certain sections of the hospital. Patients and staff have reported strange occurrences that can't be explained. Some have reported seeing shadowy figures moving through halls at night. Lights flickering, sudden drops in temperature, and unsettling whispers have also been noted by those working or staying in the hospital.

6. Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie

The Savoy Hotel is said to be haunted by the ghost of a Lady Garnet Orme, who was mysteriously poisoned there. Her restless spirit is believed to roam the hotel, still searching for justice. Guests have reported strange noises, like a woman's laughter echoing in the corridors, and sudden cold drafts. Objects have been said to move on their own, and some claim to feel an invisible presence in the room.

7. Naggar Castle, Kullu

Naggar Castle, a historic structure in Kullu, is rumored to be haunted by spirits of the past, particularly a royal princess who met an untimely death. Her presence is said to linger within the castle walls.  Visitors have experienced strange occurrences, like lights flickering, doors slamming shut, and mysterious apparitions in the corridors. Some claim to have seen a regal figure staring out of the castle's windows at night.

8. Rani Nala, Rohtang Pass

Rani Nala, a notorious spot on the way to Rohtang Pass, is said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman who died in a snowstorm. Locals believe her soul is trapped, and she often appears to travelers in distress. Drivers and travelers have reported seeing the figure of a woman dressed in white standing in the snow. Some say she calls out for help, but when they approach, she vanishes into thin air.
