Here's a list of the most haunted places in Uttar Pradesh—perfect for those who enjoy exploring the darker side of history.

1. The Haunted Mansion Of GP Block, Meerut

The GP Block od Meerut is one of the most haunted locations in Uttar Pradesh. This Abandoned building is said to be haunted by the ghosts of four men who were often seen drinking beer and sitting around a table. People also report sightings of a woman in red. Many have claimed to see figures sitting inside the building from a distance, but when approached,  they vanish without a trace. Despite its abandoned state, the eerie atmosphere and reported sighting have made it a hub of ghostly tales.

2. Bara Imambara, Lucknow

The Bara Imambara in an architectural marvel, but beneath its grandeur lies a network of tunnels that are said to be haunted. The labyrinthine passages are believed to have swallowed up people who ventured too far and never returned. Many people have reported feeling lost or disoriented  while exploring the tunnels. The eerie silence and the stories of those who disappeared make it a mysterious and haunting experience. 

3. OEL House, Lucknow

OEL House is a colonial-era bungalow located in the heart of Lucknow. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a British Officer who was brutally killed during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. His spirit is believed to still wander the grounds, seeking justice. Visitors and passerby have reported hearing footsteps, seeing shadowy figures, and feeling an Overwhelming sense of dread while near the house, especially after dark.

4. Agrasen ki Baoli, New Delhi (near Uttar Pradesh)

Though technically in New Delhi, Agrasen ki Baoli is close enough to Uttar Pradesh and is often included in tales of the region. This ancient stepwell is believed to be haunted by spirits that lure visitors to jump into the well. Visitors report an unsettling feeling of being watched and, at times, feeling strangely compelled to approach the dark waters of the well. The structure's haunting silence adds to its eerie atmosphere.

5. Sikandra, Agra

Sikandra is the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is said that the tomb is haunted by the spirits of those who who were buried with him, and the complex is filled with ghostly presence that make night visits chilling. Visitors report hearing strange noises, footsteps and Whispers inside the tomb, especially in the darker corners of the mausoleum.

6. Rumi Darwaza, Lucknow

The Rumi Darwaza, a stunning architectural gateway in Lucknow, is said to be haunted by ghosts og those who died during its construction. It is believed that many laborers who lost their lives here never left. People have reported seeing apparitions and hearing faint voices at night. The grandeur of the gateway, combined with its dark past, gives it an unsettling aura, especially after sunset.

7. The Ghostly Tale of Sikandra Bagh, Lucknow

Sikandra Bagh was the site of a brutal massacre during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Hundreds of Indian soldiers were killed here by the British, and their restless spirits are said to haunt the area to this day. Visitors to the garden have reported seeing shadowy figures and hearing the faint sounds of gunshots and battle cries. The garden, which is otherwise peaceful during the day, takes on a dark and eerie atmosphere at night.

8. Kukrail Forest Reserve, Lucknow

The Kukrail Forest Reserve is famous for its crocodile breeding centre, but it is also believed to be haunted. Locals speak of strange Occurrences and  sightings of  ghostly figures deep within the forest. Many who venture into the forest at night  have reported hearing strange noises and footsteps. Some claim to have seen eerie figures moving among the trees, making the forest a place of supernatural curiosity.

9. Janki Bai's Haunted Palace, Kanpur

The palace of Janki Bai, a courtesan of Kanpur, is said to be haunted by her restless spirit. She is believed to roam the halls of her palace, mourning her last glory and love. Visitors claim to hear the sound of anklets and faint music coming from the palace, though no one can be seen. The sense of being watched adds to the eerie atmosphere of the abandoned palace.

10. Pari Chowk, Greater Noida

Pari Chowk is a well-Known area in Greater Noida, but it has a darker side. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who died in a car accident here. Her spirit is believed to appear on the road late at night. Drivers have reported seeing woman in white standing by the road, only for her to disappear when they approach. Others claim their cars have stalled or malfunctioned in the area, adding to the sense of dread.
