The sound of a phone ringtone forced you to break apart from your heated kiss. Jungkook searched his pockets, an annoyed look on his face. Without even glimpsing to the screen, he turned down the call and threw his phone on the bed, lips still barely touching yours.

You were about to resume from where you had left off when the phone started ringing a second time.

"You should probably get that", you said, though your hands were still resting on his shoulders.

He bent down and his forehead touched yours. "Yeah, I probably should", he muttered.

When your lips met again, the sound of the ringtone had just quieted down.

But like all things, three's the charm, because hearing that ringtone a third time was bound to raise concern, so you pulled back. You could see him grappling with the idea, not wanting the moment to end. Or maybe he realized what just happened and that kissing you certainly wasn't the way to go when only a few weeks ago the two of you were just strangers who were annoyed by each other.

Finally, you let go of him and his arms retreated from your waist. He walked over to pick up the call. You were thankful for the break because either you forgot to breathe properly or Jungkook was just that overwhelming, causing you to feel actually dizzy.

"Seriously, Namjoon? Worst timing. I'll call you back tomorrow."

A few moments of silence as he listened to whatever Namjoon was saying, then: "Alright, yeah. I'll take care of it later."

When he hung up, he noticed the curiosity that arose in you. He was just about to open his mouth and explain when his phone called for attention yet again. He turned it off.

"Just work stuff, not important."

When had Jungkook ever considered work unimportant?

Instead of answering, you reached for the cocktail glass that you had completely disregarded. It hadn't yet hit you what just happened and to be completely fair, you didn't want to think about the implications of this. Instead, you battled with the silence for a moment before finally deciding that you should head to the shower.

You were definitely not trying to avoid the realization of what just happened and surely not avoiding the conversation that you maybe should've had and most certainly you were not trying to escape the deafening silence that had immediately settled into the room.

Thus, you managed to blissfully avoid the consequences of your actions.

That was, until you came back, towel wrapped around your head and fresh clothes finally replacing the ones you've been wearing the entire day. As hard as you tried to study the white wallpaper, you couldn't quite take your eyes off Jungkook as he silently grabbed a fresh change of clothes and left the room.

Barely ten minutes later, yet enough time for your thoughts to roam freely, he came back and that was when it hit you that at the end of the day, you were still sharing a room. Sharing the same bed as you did for the past week.

Lights off. Pillow between you. Phones on silent.

Neither of you could fall asleep. Not when you could hear your own heartbeat.

"This is stupid", you said after noticing Jungkook's uneven breathing indicating that he wasn't asleep either.

"Okay great, I thought I was the only one."

"Right? There is absolutely no reason for us to be this awkward."

There was, of course, a reason.

"Do you want to go for a walk?" he suggested

Though it was starting to get late, you agreed. None of you bothered to change into proper clothes so you went out in pajamas and comfortable shoes. The ocean wasn't exactly close to your hotel and though neither of you spoke, you somehow ended up at the beach. This time, the silence wasn't nearly as awkward, but perhaps you had to thank the fresh summer breeze for that. Neither of you really knew where you were heading, and the beach was so poorly lit that you weren't sure you'd find your way back in the dark, but it was still a welcomed change of scenery.
