"Omega, Rouge! Stand down!" - Sh

Shadow's eyes narrowed, his voice a low, serious tone as he looked at his friends, taking up a protective stance infront of the blue hedgehog.

"Shadow... Why are you protecting him?!" - R

Rouge's voice echoed amongst the ruins as she yelled at the black hedgehog, clearly frustrated and in utter disbelief.

"Is that even a question? It's because he's an ally of mine." - Sh

Shadow responded, his voice and stance not wavering one bit. But neither did the laser pointer of Shadow's forehead. The blue hedgehog remained quiet, trying to think of something to help the red eyed out with.

"An ally?... You have been helping him out behind our backs?!" - R

Rouge's eyes widened as she took a step back, feeling betrayal as she accused the black hedgehog. Shadow took a glance at Omega who's arms slightly moved at that.

"Wait just a minute! No! Let me explain!" - Sh

Shadow raised his voice, his arms shooting up in a defensive gesture.

"I don't hear out anyone who wants human kind to perish and let the deadly wilderness rule the world! If you want to so much protect him, then die here with him! Omega! Take them out both!" - R

Rouge's hand moved with a swoosh as she looked at Omega from the corner of her eyes.

"Rouge..." - Sh

Shadow reached after his friend before gritting his teeth, closing his eyes and taking a moment to think. But even he realised it was no use as he heard Omega charging up. Shadow had to think. And fast. He then came up with a solution to the problem.

He grabbed one of Sonic's wrists, pulled out a Chaos Emerald, raised it in the air and then yelled.

"Chaos Control!" - Sh

The next moment they opened their eyes, they found themselves in front of Shadow's house, Shadow dragging the blue hedgehog after him. The two quickly walked inside the house, Shadow kicking the door closed, after Sonic entered aswell. As soon as the door shut, Professor Gerald pointed one of his machines at the blue hedgehog behind Shadow.

"Shadow... What is he doing here?" - G

Both of their eyes widened as Shadow raised his hands mid air, in defence as he tried to explain himself.

"Professor, please we need a place to stay at while we look for a way back home!" - Sh

The professor's eyes widened as he heard the words "a way back home". His hands trembled as his eyes narrowed.

"Shadow you are like a son to me. So hurry it up, we have to go to the hospital." - G

"The story is, we are actually not the same Sonic and Shadow that you once knew! We are from a different universe! We don't know how we got here, all we remember is that we tried to run away from green hills and then we were in a completely different world the next moment! Please professor, you have to believe me!" - Sh

Shadow spoke in a hurry, his voice firm as he looked at the man. Professor Gerald took a few minutes of silence to analize the black hedgehog's gaze for any signs of dishonesty, his vision landing on the blue hedgehog behind him for a moment before lowering his weapon.

"I believe you." - G

He spoke with a small smile. The red eyed hedgehog was left speechless as both his and Sonic's eyes widened in the same manner, just as if they were a perfect reflection of eachother.

"This easy?" - So

"Shadow is like my son. I can easily tell when he is lying to me." - Sh

"That makes sense..." - So

Sonic shrugged. The black hedgehog looked back at the blue, relaxing his protective stance as he let out a sigh.

"Either way, get ready, we are going to pick up Maria from the hospital." - G

As those words left the professor's lips, Shadow's eyes opened wide as he froze. He took a moment to process what the man just said. After a minute he felt a smile trying to find its way to his lips.

"He's coming with us too. I don't trust him enough to leave him alone at home." - G

"That's fine, I trust he won't cause disturbance." - Sh

Shadow said as he looked back at the blue hedgehog, his eyes narrowing. Sonic raised a brow.

"What you looking like that at me for?" - So

Shadow just shook his head, taking a few steps deeper inside the house. The professor was long gone by this minute as he grabbed a bag and returned with it just this second.

"Won't you bring anything?" - G

He asked.

"No, I'm ready." - Sh

"Alright, Let's head out then." - G

With that he made his way to the door that led to the garage, the two hedgehogs following him in his steps. The professor with a smooth motion picked up a remote from the shelf, pressed a button and with that the garage door that led to the outside lifted. He sat in the drivers seat, Sonic and Shadow simply sitting in the back, each of them sitting right next to each door.

"Shadow, please put this on the backseat." - G

Professor Gerald held his hand out to Shadow with the bag in his hand. Shadow just simply nodded and took the bag, placing it between Sonic and himself. The engine started and slowly the car made its way out of the garage, speeding up once it was on the road, the garage door closing behind them.

Shadow couldn't help but just stare out the car window, trying to crack his thumb, his head resting on his hand. Sonic noticed this from the corner of his eyes but he just smiled at him, knowing Shadow was nervous to meet his long lost friend once again. Even if she was not the one he used to know.
