"Sonic... Sonic! Wake up!" - Sh

Shadow's voice rang in the middle of the night as he shook his partner by his shoulder, stirring him awake. Sonic rolled on his back and rubbed his eyes as he looked up at him in the soft candle light.

"What is it?..." - So

"I heard some guards talking to the royal family. And I heard that they are planning to execute us for what happened at the ball." - Sh

Sonic suddenly sat up and looked at his partner worried for a second before he hopped off the bed and ran to his wardrobe.

"Not again... What did you do?!" - So

"What did I do?!... I ask myself that too." - Sh

Shadow raised his voice but for the second half it suddenly softened as he saw how his blue lover carefully put a simple brown robe on him, finishing off with placing the hood on his head, leaving the black hedgehog speechless.

"I'm glad you expressed yourself to me don't get me wrong, just next time not in public please." - So

Sonic placed a soft kiss on his lover's nose before pulling away with a soft smile. Shadow just looked to the side with a stoic expression, and a soft shade of pink appearing on his cheek. After the prince put his robe and hood on as well, Shadow grabbed his wrist before beginning to drag him after himself as they began to escape from the castle.

Upon hearing some guards Shadow suddenly made a right turn and entered a small hallway as he held the prince close to him by the small of his back. His ears twitched as he tried to get a glimpse of the knights that were patrolling at the time but he couldn't. He felt the blue hedgehog wrapping one of his hands around his, making the knight drag his gaze from the knights, down to his lover.

He slowly let go of his wrist and placed both of his hands on his back as he slowly leaned in and captured the blue rodent's lips in a sweet and gentle kiss.

"It's going to be hard to get used to this..." - So

Sonic whispered, Shadow just responding with a soft smile before letting go of him, grabbing his hand as he began to drag the blue hedgehog after himself once the footsteps he heard had dissapeared into the distance.

The two ran across the hallways, their final one being a smaller one that led straight out of the castle. The door swung open, revealing the moon to the two running hedgehogs. Shadow took this as a sign and began to chase the moon with his lover as they made their way into the nearby forest. This is when the dark hedgehog decided it might be the perfect time to talk about his theory about some important matter, their pace not changing.

"Remember what happened in the other world? How you lost your mind and thought I killed your friends?" - Sh

"Yeah?" - So

"I have a feeling that every time we end up in another world it has something to do with an explosion. And this is a suspection but I think you probably lost your mind because you were sleeping at the time it happened. Your whole personality changed even. Slightly noticable, but it did." - Sh

The dark hedgehog spoke as he guided the prince across the trees with great precision. Sonic just listened and nodded as he followed.

"Maybe it had something to do about a dream I had at the time? I don't remember what it was but it could have been, couldn't it?" - So

"Possible." - Sh

It took them only a few minutes before they finally reached the end of the forest. The starry sky and moon being revealed to them as they whooshed past the last tree of the forest, the sight breathtaking.

"I think we are far enough." - Sh

Shadow said after stopping, letting go of the blue hedgehog's hand before reaching for his helmet and lifting up his metal visor, looking back into the forest one last time to make sure no one has caught up with them. He let out a sigh of relief upon seeing no one, and with that he turned his head forward, seeing the blue hedgehog walk a few steps, his emerald green eyes reflecting the moon, as he looked at its magnificent glory in the dark sky, as the stars around it danced in harmony.

Shadow couldn't help but take in the sight of the blue hedgehog he recently have fallen in love with, as he stood out in the open, his hands holding together behind him as the moonlight drew a contour around him. The knight slowly walked up next to him, looking up at the starry sky along with him.

"Have you ever wondered why the moon is so bright but also so dark?" - So

Sonic asked, his eyes glued to the giant white glowing orb. The red-striped hedgehog kept silent as his eyes dragged themselves to look at the blue hedgehog's face, listening as he continued.

"It looks so bright up there in the sky, but unlike the Sun, it doesn't invade every corner with its light. If anything, it barely even casts any. But for some reason I still find it pleasant to look at." - So

Shadow looked at the blue hedgehog's twinkling eyes as the stars and the moon reflected in them. This sight of Sonic seemed like a completely new side to him that he never thought could have existed. He looked up at the moon before responding.

"If you can withstand the Sun's light, you can find the allurement in that as well, and once you do, you can never unsee it again." - Sh

Shadow's eyes slowly looked back at Sonic as he spoke, the other looking at him as well, their gazes locking for a moment. The dark hedgehog just had a stoic expression, but the blue hedgehog's natural expression turned into a wide, sweet smile as he tilted his head slightly to the side.

The knight's cheeks tinted with a light pink upon seeing his newfound lover's smile. His green eyes looked back at the moon before responding.

"I don't know, I never found the appeal in it." - So

Shadow looked down as he started to adjust his blade within its sheath.

"I never took you as the sentimental type, Sonic." - Sh

Sonic raised a brow at the dark hedgehog before chuckling.

"I'm not. I just say what I think." - So

"And that is what precisely I admire about you." - Sh

Shadow responded almost immediately. There was no response afterwards and so he decided to not push this conversation any further. He pressed his upper and lower lip together before lowering his visor, turning his head away from the blue hedgehog.

"We should get going." - Sh

With that then he began walking towards the horizon, following the moon as his steps picked up their pace.

"And you call me sentimental, huh?" - So

The prince laughed out, following the knight, grasping his hand in his own as they chased after the moon together.
