Building up a storyline can be difficult. I usually try to think of key events in lives and dot them around.
Birthdays
Holidays
Key work dates. Then think of smaller things to fill in the gaps like a date or a walk out or even just a day together but try not to make it repetitive.
For example one day Riley and Emily could stay at home and color together, another day they might be in the garden. It's about variety. You can do chapters on work, doctor appointments, sick, holidays.
I'll be honest it would be nice to read a book with littles where they go on a family holiday. I feel like they always stay at home but they never go on holidays to like Spain or Russia or new York.
Quin took Daniel to new York. Ezekiel didn't go but he had work so he couldn't.
Be creative but realistic. If your characters struggle for money don't put they will have a holiday in Morocco... And not all family's have to be super rich. Emily isn't rich, she is well off but not rolling in it.
She lives in a family home and when she decided to stay at home more. Damon had to put in more hours so they wouldn't be struggling financially. Quin is a bit wealthier but that's because he is a crime boss and Xia has no need for money. She would be very poor if she went to hell.
Doesn't need to be extravagant. Not everyday will be an adventure. Some days it can just be a fluff piece.
But make it your own. It's your story just don't make it really samey.
Happy writing
Much love ❤
