"Use your machete."
Sofia stood on the bed of the truck, looking at the walkers that came toward, "There's too many." She argued, her feet cemented to the plastic, watching as a handful of walkers began emerging from the homes of the suburban area
"Use your machete!" Shane shouted, "You got Iris strapped to your back, guns out of ammo - how you gonna protect her? Daryl ain't gonna be around forever." Shane had seen potential in Sofia. He knew she was fast and smart, but she was afraid. He wanted to end that fear, "Move or die, Sofia!" Shane shouted, holding a baseball bat. He took a hard swing, crushing the skull of the walker, "The noise of the gun will attract more walkers!"
Sofia exhaled deeply as she jumped off the back of the truck, grabbing her machete. Uncomfortably, she swung, impaling a walker, "Its stuck!" She shouted, trying to tug the sharp weapon from its skull
"Kick it with your boot!" Shane shouted
Sofia kicked the walker down, stumbling a bit before she caught herself. She exhaled deeply as she met a walker halfway, swinging her machine again, sliding the walkers head off at the neck
"Still alive!" Shane shouted
Sofia dug the blade into the head of the walker, placing her boot on its forehead before she yanked the machete out
"Atta girl!" Shane laughed eagerly, watching Sofia in fascination
Fueled by rage and irritation, Sofia swung her machete again, slicing the head of the walker horizontally. She reached forward, impaling another walker, the blade landing between the eye. She kicked its body down to the ground, "Shane, there's getting to be a lot."
"I'm comin'." Shane said, jogging over, using his bat to hit another walker, clearing himself a way over, "Stay with me." He said, pushing his back against Sofias
Sofia felt safe knowing Shane was pressed against her. She swung at walkers, keeping her body connected to Shane's until the soft growling from the walkers subsided
"We did it." Shane said, turning to face Sofia, a wide grin on his face
Sofia looked at all the bodies, her stomach churning as she began self aware of all the blood coating her, "We did it." She repeated, quietly
"Let's go home and wash up. I think we've got a pretty good haul." Shane said, walking toward the truck
Sofia got in the drivers seat, inhaling deeply as she turned the key, listening to the engine. A shaky exhale escaped her lips as she drove toward the farm
"I'm sorry if I was harsh back there. I just want the best for you and that little baby."
"I know. Thank you." Sofia said quietly, swallowing back a thick lump in her throat
"You did good." Shane encouraged
"I know." Sofia said, tears streaming down her cheeks
"Why you cryin'? What's wrong? You hurt?" Shane asked, "pull the car over."
"No. I wanna go home. I'm okay." Sofia promised, pushing down on the gas pedal, speeding up
"I'm sorry, Sofia." Shane said, sincerely
"You didn't do anything Shane." Sofia said, parking the truck beside the house, "I'm just overwhelmed. That was a lot. But it was necessary."
"Don't go telling Dixon I made you cry. Or Rick... or Dale.... Or Glen .." Shane laughed, reaching over and wiping Sofias cheek with his thumb
Sofia smiled softly as she nodded, sniffling quietly before she got out the car, "Thank you again, Shane." She said, walking toward the house
Rick walked out of the house as Sofia went to enter
"Hi." Sofia smiled warmly, furrowing her eyebrows when Rick ignored her. She walked inside the house, smiling when she saw Beth and Isabella circled around Carl and Iris, who were seated on the bed
"What the heck happened to you?" Carl asked, noting the spattered blood on Sofias clothing
"Nothing. You should see the other guy." Sofia smiled playfully, "I'm gonna go shower then find Daryl. Do you guys need anything before I go?"
Isabela shook her head, smiling softly
Sofia walked into the guest room, closing the door behind her. She took a quick shower and redressed in fresh clothes before she went to find Daryl
"Where ya been?" Daryl asked, watching as Sofia approached him
"With Shane." Sofia said, sitting down on the ground
"Thats gross. Why would you do that?" Daryl asked
"He asked me to join him on a run. I thought we were going to town. We ended up in a small suburb, killing walkers for what felt like years." Sofia said, pulling a blade of grass out of the earth
"You? Killing walkers?" Daryl asked
Sofia scratched the back of her head, scrunching up her nose, "Its easy when you pretend those walkers are Shane."
"Was he mean to you?" Daryl interrogated
"Nope. He's just weird." Sofia admitted, flicking the blade of grass at Daryl
Daryl watched as it landed on his boots. He raised his eyebrows, "Can't say I disagree."
Sofia inhaled deeply, wondering why she was so uncomfortable. Being intimate with Daryl was nothing new, and she had no regrets - she just felt so guilty for sleeping with him because of her fiance. She knew that her fiance was gone, and the likelihood of their reunion was very slim. So, she wondered why she felt so uncomfortable
Daryl looked at Sofia. His ability to read her was one of his gifts. So, he sighed, speaking up, "You got regrets?"
"No!" Sofia said, immediately, "No. I am so happy. I feel... so good. I just... feel guilty. Like, I cheated on my fiance. And I have so many questions."
"Questions?"
"Questions." Sofia confirmed
"Do I have answers?"
"Potentially."
Daryl sighed, sitting against his bike, "Okay. Shoot."
"Why did you leave me?"
"Starting off strong, I see." Daryl exhaled
"Daryl. C'mon." Sofia pleaded
"I was young, Soph. I left because I was a dumb nineteen year old." Daryl said
"Yeah? What're you now?" Sofia asked
"A dumb twenty seven year old." Daryl replied
"Whats changed? Other than the fact you're old as shit." Sofia said
"Whats changed is the fact that I'm here and I aint going anywhere." Daryl said, kneeling down in front of Sofia
Sofia looked up at Daryl, unsure
"I aint going anywhere." Daryl repeated
Sofia exhaled deeply, nodding, "What if I leave?"
"I'll come find you." Daryl promised
Sofia looked up at him, nodding slowly
"Me, you, that baby and your stupid sister - we're all we got left of what use to be, They're my family now too. I aint letting none of ya'll go." Daryl promised
Sofia nodded, smiling as she leaned in, kissing Daryl delicately
Daryl kissed Sofia, cupping her cheek as he pushed down on her body, urging her to lay on the grass
Sofia laid back, moaning softly as Daryl laid between her legs, his bulge pressed against her womanhood. She slid her tongue into his mouth, unable to continue kissing him because she was smiling
"What're ye smilin' about?" Daryl mumbled against her lips
"Nothin'." Sofia giggled, kissing him sweetly, pulling away slowly, "Thank you." She mumbled quietly
"Fer what?" Daryl asked
"For coming back." Sofia said, quietly
