"Daryl! I'm scared!"

"Just hop down." Daryl whispered, "I ain't gonna let you fall. C'mon."

Sofia sat perched in her windowsill, looking down at her 17 year old boyfriend, "No, I'm scared."

"Woman!"

Sofia giggled as she hoisted herself off the windowsill, landing safely in Daryl's arms

"I told ya I ain't gonna let ya fall." Daryl murmured

"I don't know why I doubted you." Sofia hummed, wrapping her arms around Daryl's neck, "If my dad sees you out here, he's gonna freak."

"I ain't afraid of no bakers man." Daryl said, placing a soft kiss on Sofias lips, "I just had to come and see ya. Sucks you're grounded first day of summer."

"You got me grounded. This is exactly how I got grounded in the first place!" Sofia giggled

"Well, yer big ol' mouth kept yappin'. People in kentucky probably heard you hollerin' at me." Daryl grinned

Sofia laughed, kissing Daryl again to silence him, "You're so bad." She said

"Mmhmm.." Daryl mumbled against her lips, "I don't know. I think you're the bad influence." He admitted

"Me?!" Sofia gasped, pulling their lips apart, "I am appalled!"

"C'mon." Daryl grinned, placing her down on the ground, leading her toward the woods

"I don't have any bug spray on." Sofia objected

"Woman."

"Sorry, I'll be quiet." Sofia giggled, holding his hand as she walked behind him

Daryl smiled as he lead Sofia over to a small blanket, tucked away by the roots of a old oak tree

Sofia sat down on the blanket, looking up at Daryl with her large brown eyes.
She wore a simple night gown and her pink bunny slippers. Her hair was in two loose pig tails and she stared up at Daryl as if he placed every single star in the sky.

Daryl sat down beside Sofia, smiling as he laid on his side, propping himself up with his elbow, "So.."

"So!" Sofia said, looking up at her older boyfriend, "How're you?"

"Here we go, again with the talkin'." Daryl said, pushing himself off the ground with his elbows, "C'mere." He said, cupping her cheek, pulling her in for a kiss

Sofia smiled as she wrapped her arms around his neck, connecting their lips quietly. She kissed him passionately, tilting her head to the side to deepen the kiss

Daryl tucked her hair behind her ear, laying Sabrina down as he laid beside her - careful not to crush her delicate body with his massive frame

Sofia tangled her fingers in his hair, whining quietly as Daryl pulled his lips away

"I just wanna look at ya." Daryl murmured, scanning her eyes

Sofia looked up at him, scanning his face,

Daryl laid back, resting his head on her chest. He shivered when he felt her play with his hair

"Daryl?"

"What's up, darlin'?" Daryl mumbled

"Will you tell me about our future?" Sofia asked, playing with his hair

"Okay." Daryl said, folding his hands over his belly, "After I do a stent in prison..." He began

Sofia flicked his head

"It's bound to happen." Daryl replied, "Anyway, I'm gonna be workin' in a factory... making money. I'm gonna buy you a nice house, a big ring and plump you up full of babies."

"And we'll be happy?" Sofia asked

"The happiest." Daryl said, "We'll make a life we won't have to sneak away from." He promised

Sofia leaned down, kissing him softly, "Just us."

"Always." Daryl said softly, "Will you sing me that song?" He asked, quietly

"Sure." Sofia smiled, playing with his hair, "I use to sing a simple song... That was until you came along. Now in its place is something new... i hear it when i look at you.. With simple songs I wanted more.. perfect is so quick to bore.. You are more beautiful by far. Our flaws are who we really are. I use to sing a simple song... that was until you came along. You took my broken melody.. Now I hear a symphony."

Daryl was thankful the night sky was able to mask his tears as he laid cradled in Sofias arms. He felt safe. Warm. Loved.
A rush of emotions raging through him in the speed of light, a way he was unable to comprehend.
To be able to be loved without consequences. The ability to be a kid.

The ability to be human.
