Hanni POV:

The first clue had arrived in my locker—taped carefully to the inside like it belonged there. A small note, written in perfect, almost familiar handwriting, but with just enough anonymity to make me wonder.

"Find what's been waiting for you beneath the bench in the courtyard."

I stared at the note for a moment, heart pounding in my chest. My mind raced with possibilities, but I already knew where this was going. It had to be from her. Minji was finally making her move.

A shiver of anticipation ran through me as I crumpled the note and stuffed it in my bag. This was exactly what I'd been waiting for. She was coming to me, finally. All the nights spent obsessing over her, following her, learning everything about her life—it had all been leading up to this. Now, it was time to see what she had planned.

---

The courtyard was quiet, the afternoon sun casting long shadows as I approached the familiar bench. I'd sat here dozens of times, watching Minji from afar as she passed by on her way to class. But now, the roles were reversed. Now, she was the one watching me.

I knelt down beside the bench, my hands trembling with excitement. There, tucked neatly beneath the wooden slats, was a small box. Inside was a pen. Not just any pen it was my pen. The one I'd lost months ago, the one I thought was gone forever. I picked it up, the weight of it familiar in my hand, as a slow, creeping realization settled over me. She had taken it. She had been watching me, even back then.

I smiled to myself, my heart racing. This was exactly what I wanted. Minji was just as obsessed as I was.

There was another note, attached to the pen with a piece of string.

"You've held this before. Now it's time to find something else you've forgotten. The next clue waits for you at the café where you first noticed me."

I bit my lip, my stomach doing a flip. She was really doing this—making me chase her, making me work for her. I could barely contain the excitement bubbling inside me as I stood up and headed toward the café. This hunt was already turning into something more than just a game.

It was a declaration.

---

The café was bustling with people, as usual, but I didn't care about anyone else. My eyes scanned the room, searching for the next clue. It didn't take long to find it—a small napkin, folded neatly on the table where I always sat. A single word was written on it:

"Soon."

I unfolded the napkin and felt my breath hitch. Inside was a torn page from my old biology notebook, the one I had thrown away when I realized I'd failed the exam. She'd kept it. She'd saved it.

My heart pounded louder, my head spinning with the sheer weight of what this meant. Every tiny detail, every little thing I thought I'd lost, she had them. She had been watching me, collecting pieces of my life. It was almost too perfect.

The final note was tucked beneath the page:

"Meet me where you once wished we'd accidentally touch. Your wish comes true today."

I knew exactly where she meant. The library. The same aisle where we almost bumped into each other all those months ago, where I had spent hours imagining how different things could have been if only she'd noticed me then. Now, she had.

Minji POV:

I watched from the shadows as Hanni walked through the library, her face lighting up with each step she took closer to me. She didn't know I was there, hiding behind the shelves, but I could see everything, the way her fingers trembled as she picked up the final note, the way her lips curled into a small, satisfied smile. She thought she had me figured out. She thought I had been stalking her, watching her, obsessing over her the same way she had over me. And she was right.

But that wasn't the story I was going to tell. When she finally reached the end of the aisle, where I stood waiting for her, I stepped out from the shadows, a wide smile plastered on my face. My heart was pounding, but I forced myself to stay calm. I had to play this perfectly.

"Minji?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. Her eyes widened, and I could see the realization dawning on her face. "It was you?"

I nodded slowly, stepping closer, keeping my expression soft—innocent. "It was me," I said, my voice low and careful. "Haha, Haerin said that this would be a good idea. To lead you on some treasure hunt but she made it so creepy huh? What a weirdo!"

Hanni's smile faltered, and for a split second, I thought I saw a flicker of disappointment in her eyes. She wanted something more. Something... darker.

"I don't actually know if those were your things," I continued,

They were.

"So don't get too frighted, I just had to make sure you were going to continue the scavenger hunt and not lose interest."

Reaching out and gently brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "I've been watching you for so long, Hanni. I've seen all the people who tried to get close to you, but none of them ever really knew you. Not like I do."

Hanni's gaze softened, her breath hitching as I stepped even closer. "You know me?"

I nodded again. "Better than anyone."

Keep it together Minji don't scare her away.

"Not in a weird way though! Just a 'I've seen you around!' type of way!"

Wow great save.

Her lips parted, and for a moment, I thought she might say something, might say that she knows I'm lying. But she didn't. She just stared at me, her eyes wide and hungry.

"I think you look really pretty," I whispered, leaning in just close enough for her to hear.

She swallowed hard, her face flushing slightly as she tried to keep her composure. "You are just being kind."

I smiled, my heart pounding in my chest. "No, I'd never lie to you Hanni"

This isn't lying, I'm just looking out for you.

Hanni POV:

I felt like I was going to explode. Every word she said was perfect... too perfect. My mind raced with a thousand thoughts, each one more obsessive than the last.

She was mine

I didn't care how she framed it, how she pretended this was just a cute little treasure hunt. I knew the truth. She had been watching me. She had been obsessed with me, just like I was with her.

But she was holding back. I could see it in her eyes, the hesitation, the need to 'play it cool'. I wanted to scream, to grab her and tell her she didn't need to hide. I wanted her obsession. I wanted her to go further, to take it to the next level.

But instead, I smiled. I had to play it safe, too. I had to let her think she was still in control.

"Thank you," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. "For setting this up, it was cute."

She smiled back, her hand brushing against mine for just a moment before she pulled away. "I'll see you in bio tomorrow?"

I nodded, my heart racing. "Yeah... I'll see you."

As she walked away, I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. I wanted more. I wanted her to be just as twisted, just as obsessed. But she was playing the long game.

And I'd let her. For now.

Because soon enough, she'd see. We were the same.

We were meant for each other.
