Whispers between us.

Minji POV:

Walking into school with Hanni feels like stepping into an alternate universe, one where we're just two normal girls. But I know better. The way her hand brushes against mine as we walk, the quick glances she steals, the small smile she gives me, it's not innocent. There's something darker underneath it all. But I like it. I like how we can walk into this building, surrounded by people who think they know us, and yet we're playing a completely different game.

Hanni bumps her shoulder against mine as we pass through the gates. "You ready for today?"

I glance at her, her expression as casual as ever, but there's a spark in her eyes. Something dangerous.

"Ready for what?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. Not that I don't already know. Today's the day we make it official, the day we let everyone in on our little secret.

"For this." She entwines her fingers with mine, holding my hand in full view of everyone passing by. My heart skips a beat, not from embarrassment, but from the thrill of it. The risk. The knowledge that everyone's watching and they have no idea what's really going on between us.

"I'm always ready," I reply with a smirk, squeezing her hand. Hanni smiles back, and it's so sweet it almost makes me forget about the razor-sharp edge beneath her charm. Almost.

We make our way to the cafeteria, the air buzzing with the usual chaos of students finding their seats. I spot Haerin first, sitting at our usual table, her nose buried in a book as usual. Dani and Hyein are already with her, talking and laughing about something. They don't see us yet.

Hanni tightens her grip on my hand just slightly, and I know she's thinking the same thing I am. This will be fun.

As we approach the table, Dani looks up first. Her face lights up with that signature sunshine smile of hers, and she waves us over. "Hey, you two! You're late! I thought maybe you got lost or something." She giggles, always the bubbly one.

I release Hanni's hand just before we reach the table. We slip into our usual spots, me beside Haerin, and Hanni beside Dani. Haerin looks up from her book, her gaze flickering to Hanni, then back to me. There's something knowing in her eyes, but she doesn't say anything.

Hanni leans forward, resting her elbows on the table, and grins at the group. "So, Minji and I have some news."

I bite back a smile, glancing at Hanni from the corner of my eye. I can already see the gears turning in her head. She loves this, the suspense, the reveal, the reactions. It's like we're sharing some twisted little joke that only we understand.

"Oh my god!" Dani practically squeals, her eyes darting between us. "Did something happen? Spill it, you two!"

Hyein, who's been mostly quiet, perks up at this, her eyes widening. "What's going on?"

I exchange a quick glance with Hanni, and she nods, urging me to speak first. I don't mind. I want to see their reactions. I lean forward, resting my chin on my hand, pretending to be casual, even though there's nothing casual about what's coming next.

"Hanni and I," I say slowly, letting the words sink in, "are dating."

For a split second, there's silence. I can see the surprise flash across their faces, their wide eyes, their gaping mouths. It's perfect.

Dani is the first to react, of course. "No way!" she shrieks, practically bouncing in her seat. "Are you serious? That's amazing!" She reaches over to grab Hanni's arm, shaking it in excitement. "You guys are so cute together, I swear!"

Hyein looks stunned for a moment, her mouth hanging open. Then she grins, shaking her head in disbelief. "Totally didn't see that coming, HAHA JUST KIDDING I KNEW THIS WHOLE TIME I SHIP IT!" She giggles, glancing between the two of us. "You guys are perfect together."

Haerin, on the other hand, stays quiet, her gaze lingering on me longer than usual. She knows me too well. There's something in her eyes, like she's putting the pieces together, figuring out that this is more than just a normal relationship. But she smiles anyway, her lips curving into a small, genuine expression. "I'm happy for you."

It's so sweet. It almost makes me laugh. They think this is love, that Hanni and I are just two people who found each other in a normal, wholesome way.

Hanni reaches across the table, brushing her fingers against mine in a way that seems innocent to everyone else, but to me, it's electric. Possessive. She leans in, her voice soft but dripping with something darker, just for me. "Told you they'd be happy."

I smirk, tilting my head slightly. "You were right. As usual."

Dani and Hyein are still gushing, oblivious to the undercurrent between us, while Haerin watches quietly. I wonder what she'd think if she knew the truth, that Hanni and I aren't just in love. We're obsessed. But that's a secret we'll keep between us. For now.

The rest of lunch passes in a blur of laughter and congratulations. Dani can't stop talking about how 'adorable' we are, and even Hyein chimes in with playful teasing. It's all so... normal. But beneath the surface, I can feel the tension simmering between me and Hanni. Every touch, every glance is a reminder of what we really are.

Hanni POV:

As we leave the cafeteria, I can't stop the grin that tugs at my lips. Watching them react, seeing how happy they are for us, it's all so deliciously ironic. They have no idea how twisted this really is. But that's the fun part, isn't it? Minji walks beside me, her hand brushing against mine again, and I feel that familiar thrill, the connection that's always there, simmering just beneath the surface. She glances at me, her eyes gleaming with that same dangerous light. I know she feels it too. We walk through the halls together, side by side, our fingers just barely touching.

We step into the classroom, the chatter of students filling the air. Everyone's absorbed in their own world, completely unaware of the one we're crafting between us. It's perfect, really, how easily we can slip back into the mundane, knowing what lies just beneath the surface.

Minji drops my hand as we walk in, but the closeness lingers. I can feel her presence like an electric current, even without touching. She catches my gaze, and for a brief moment, the world around us fades. It's just me and her. Like always.

I take my seat first, sliding into the desk beside her. She's pretending to focus on the teacher, but I can tell her mind is elsewhere. My lips curl into a smirk as I lean over, my voice barely a whisper, but enough for her to hear.

"Minji."

She turns her head slightly, just enough for our eyes to meet. Her expression is calm, controlled, but there's a fire behind her eyes that she can't hide from me.

"What?" she murmurs, her voice low, but there's an edge to it.

I don't answer right away. Instead, I glance around the room, making sure no one's paying attention. Then I lean in closer, my lips brushing against her ear. "I think you owe me something."

She stiffens for a second, caught off guard. But then she lets out a quiet laugh, tilting her head toward me, her breath warm against my skin. "Oh? And what might that be?"

I pull back just enough to look at her, my eyes searching hers. "This."

Before she can respond, I lean in and press my lips against hers. It's quick, soft, and hidden behind the cover of the desks. To anyone else, it would seem innocent, but for us, it's more than that. It's a reminder. A promise. A claim.

Minji kisses me back, just for a moment, before pulling away with that familiar smirk on her face. She glances around to make sure no one saw, and then she looks back at me, her eyes gleaming.

"You're impossible," she mutters, but there's a smile tugging at her lips.

I grin, leaning back in my seat, satisfied. "You love it."

She doesn't deny it.

As the teacher starts the lesson, I steal one last glance at Minji. Her eyes are back on the front of the room, but her hand drifts under the desk, brushing against mine. It's subtle, hidden, but it's enough.

Whatever happens next, we'll face it together.

And I can't wait.
