Part 13

Jutland

"It's been almost 2 years they should be here any day now.. we WILL get them back everything is going to be fine!" Hild tells Sihtric, both looking out towards the sunset over the ocean.
"Pray to your god Hild."
Sihtric says walking away from the beach to return back at their camp they set up a ways away from the shore line.He's met by Ragnar and a few of his men "You seem restless young Kjartan!"
Ragnar says laughing under his breath within seconds Sihtric has his axe out and has it held against Ragnars throat.
"DO NOT EVER call me that!" He says through gritted teeth. Releasing his axe from Ragnars neck he goes to walk away only for Ragnar to knock him on his front with his foot Sihtric turns around only to be met by a sword an inch from his face. The two men sileny stare down the other only for Ragnar heave a breath out and yield his sword back into its sheath. "If you are to ever be killed by any Ragnarsson it wouldn't be me." The men stare for a second longer but with a nod Ragnar helps Sihtric up.

Two days later Sihtric and Ragnar finally see a boat on the horizon just about to hit the shore when Sven and a few of his men come riding up.
"He must be here for Uhtred and Evie!" Sihtric says to Ragnar. Furrowing his brow the two men rush back to camp to tell gather their men for a fight!

"Sverri bring me that man." Sven orders pointing to Uhtred who after two long years was barely even able to stand from being so weak.
"Fight me!" Sven tells Uhtred throwing him a sword onto the sand in front of him.
Uhtred can barely even Bend over to pick it up for being so weak. Finan who after all him and Uhtred have shared has sworn his sword to him. He tries to intervene knowing Uhtred wouldn't be able to protect himself .
Finan picks up the sword barely able to run from still being weak himself. He runs towards Sven only to be knocked to the side as if it was nothing
Sven looses his patience only to begin to raise his sword above Uhtred's head to kill him.
"FIGHT!" Ragnar yells to the warriors as they run over the small hill down the beach.
Taken Sven by surprise he decides to flees when he notices Ragnar and Sihtric cutting down his guards.
A stunned Uhtred still on his knees breaks down in tears as Ragnar embraces him.
"Free the slaves, let them go!" Ragnar orders his men.
Finan picks up a sword he finds in the sand and go after Sverri who has been injured during the battle.. walking up to him Finan runs his sword in his throat just as he was about to beg for his life.

Ragnar turns to Finan. "You are brothers?"
"Yes we are bound."
Giving nod in understanding Ragnar turns to Sihtric who comes up from behind him looking around. "Were is she?" He turns to Uhtred "where is Evie?" Uhtred looks confused for a moment but after a moment tells them how Sven and his men bought her as a slave and she's been with Sven and Kjartan for two years.
Ragnar, Sihtric, and Hild are shocked because all this time they thought she was trapped on a ship only to be in the hands of Kjartan the cruel.
Sihtric walks off in the other direction having to get away from everyone to clear his head.

Hild turns to Uhtred "Halig?"
"He is gone." Uhtred says looking to her and Ragnar. "I am ashamed I have failed her!" He says only for Ragnar to bend down again taking his hands from his face for his little brother to look at him.
" You could never fail her she is strong, she is a warrior!" Ragnar gets up moving away so Hild could assist him with some help.

Later once night had fallen Hild had already cut Uhtred's hair and cleaned some of his wounds. She and Uhtred sit by the fire staring flames
"Lord, we will get her back. I promise you."
"You will always be too good a woman for god alone." Uhtred turns holding her hand and facing her properly for the first time since they reunited.
She grabs his hand in hers giving him a smile.
