I carefully surveyed the Kantasma's entire body as I ran around it, trying to discover a weak spot to land an attack. But with its uncanny ability to stretch and twist its torso like a rope spiraled on a coil, it was impossible for me to find an opening. Then, with a quick thrust of its extended arm, I dodged the attack and leaped forward to where my teacher stood, aiming for its head.

A short, crushing sound was made as the metal fragment hit my target, followed by a breaking sound. I took a deep gasp as a part of the metal stick flung into the air, leaving the monster's head unscathed. I safely landed on the ground, holding tightly on what remained of my unreliable weapon.

In an instant, I saw another upcoming deadly attack from the monster's other hand. And just as its razor-sharp nails were about to make contact with my head, a blinding white ball of light engulfed the monster before me, sending it stumbling backward and allowing me to escape yet another near-death situation.

It was Mayari, once again, saving me from grave danger.

I regained my senses and gazed in Mayari's direction. She was barely standing on her punctured right leg, yet her face remained filled with determination. I threw the metal piece clutched in my hands and rushed to her side.

"I told you earlier, ordinary attacks will have no effect on a Netherbeast," Mayari weakly uttered, the immense pain evident on her face now. "You need to use a diwa attack to make a dent on it."

"I tried so hard, but it won't come out." I helplessly admitted.

"You need to use the Tikbalang," Mayari suggested. "That is the only way I could think of. If our hunch is true that your brother was able to transfer some of his powers to you, then you should be able to activate the Agimat."

"But how could I do that if I can't even channel diwa out of my body?"

"I will buy you some time," Mayari replied. "I will try to get our teacher busy while you are concentrating. Listen to me, Makisig. This is the only chance we have. Any time now, I will completely run out of diwa, and there is nothing else that we can do to protect ourselves. You need to emit that diwa from inside you no matter what it takes. Stop thinking about me, the Kantasma, and even where you are right now. You need to disconnect from this world and leap inside the dimensions of your being. You need to concentrate and connect with the power within you. And once you feel that overwhelming sensation, channel it into the Tikbalang, so you can expand its power."
