It's the year 2030 and young aspiring NEXT pilot Leo Calaway seeks to leave his own mark in the annals of history while treading a world locked in conflict with other Armored Core NEXTs and Titans.

The bustling noises of activity within Astral Village's main gate awaken Leo from his slumber. Sitting up he stretches, groaning and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Traveling to the bathroom in his quarters, he closes the door and locks it before taking care of business and splashing water onto his face to help wake himself up.
Putting his boots on, Leo steps outside to see the workers of the main deck starting their day. The young American meets up with Rena who was about to have breakfast herself. The two ride the lift up to the third floor to eat. After their meals are devoured, the leader of the village visits the Commander of the village. The Commander told Rena they've just received word that a Savage Devilijho has been sighted in the Ancient Forest section of Monster Island. He sent experienced Hunters to deal with it, but none were able to survive the encounter.
Rena explains to Leo what the Savage Devilijho looks like. It's stronger, more agile and more aggressive than its normal counterpart and has dark colored scales compared to a normal Devilijho and the red cloud attack is larger and packs more raw power. When enraged, its scales become a brownish color.
Commander: "We've also received word the Savage Devilijho. Because of the sheer aggressive nature of this animal, we named it Kanshudo which means dangerous."
Rena: "Leave Kanshudo to me, Commander. I'll show the beast how dangerous I can be. Leo, come with me. You get to see firsthand what I'm capable of." The two set out to defeat Kanshudo.
Reaching the destination, Rena searches for the Savage Devilijho. A few minutes later, she spots the monster girl feasting on a carcass of a Rathian.

She begins to sneak up on Kanshudo, switches her weapon into Gauss cannon mode and loading a fire sphere into the ammo chamber located on the end of the blade, causing the golden yellow trim to glow red and the teeth open unveiling the barrel, the trigger emerges from its hiding spot in the hilt, the pommel pointing downward to take the form of a bump stop and the shorter blade guard deploys to form a handle for Rena to hold the weapon steady.
Planting herself against a tree, Rena pokes her head out to watch the monster girl continue eating and quickly moves to the next tree to head closer. Now within firing range, Rena climbs on a thick branch and takes aim. Pulling the trigger, the fire slug races toward its target and pierces Kanshudo's thick scales on the shoulder. The Savage Devilijho monster girl lets out a roar of pain and stops eating to see where the slug came from. Looking up, Kanshudo sees Rena descending rapidly with Devil's Fang back into its sword mode and lands a horizontal slash across Kanshudo's face. The Savage Devilijho roars in rage, raising her large, clawed hand to retaliate. Rena evades the attack as the hand strikes the forest floor, cracking it and sending large chunks of rock flying. Leo moves out of the way of a flying rock screaming towards him. The rock rolls along the floor before crashing into a large tree, shattering upon contact with the tree bark.
