Looming over Seattle and Tacoma is Mount Rainier, at 14,410 feet it's the tallest volcano of the entire Cascade Range, a volcanic chain running from northern California of the USA all the way up to British Columbia. The residents are unaware that this sleeping giant could awaken at any moment and destroy their fragile sense of peace.

Taking a bite of his PB&J sandwich, he looks around the breathtaking scenery that was born from violence. This valley like many others within the park are ancient deposits of volcanic material including mudflows during an eruption from Mount Rainier's past.
