Saylor
"I don't like this,"
Audrey's voice was rough and sultry. Saylor ignored her, and just continued to reapply her lipgloss, using the reflection on the elevator door as a mirror. Day two of what Saylor had named 'being a model for my ex-girlfriend and having to not kiss her challenge' was off to a great start. The rickety elevator had finally lived up to its temperamental reputation.
"Fuck!" Audrey cursed, mashing her hand against the top floor button. "Move, you stupid thing," but it didn't move. Saylor held her breath, praying that it would continue its journey up... no. She pulled out her phone and subtly replied to a Snapchat from Maisie, sending a photo of her pouting with the text; stuck in an elevator with Audrey kms. Maisie replied just seconds later with a selfie of her making a shocked face, and Daniel in the background holding up his phone, displaying a picture of Sabrina Carpenter. It was random, but he was such a fangirl.
"I think we're stuck," Saylor finally said, and Audrey groaned.
"Wow! Really?" she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You're so observant," she fake gushed. She raised her wrist to wake her watch up. "We're already 15 minutes late,"
"There's no signal," Saylor sighed, tapping the send button on Whatsapp repeatedly, trying to message Todd.
"Great," Audrey hissed. "This is so fucking great,"
"Would you stop swearing? Please?"
"So you're still so sensitive? Wow, Mcray, some things really never change,"
"Don't start this, Audrey,"
"Start what?"
"This!"And then it was quiet, apart from the clicking sound of Audrey spamming the emergency button. It flashed in a rhythmic pattern, but there was no obvious sign that help was on the way. Two minutes passed in complete silence, and the tension grew so thick you could cut it with a knife.
"Why are you here, Audrey?" Saylor asked, her voice low.
"Because the stupid fucking elevator is broken,"
"No, why are you in Florida, and don't give me that same BS from before,"
"I told you; I want to be a photographer," she said, looking Saylor in the eyes. Saylor felt herself drowning in want and desperation and pure hatred. How dare Audrey take the one thing that was supposed to be just Saylor's. Audrey smirked.Maisie had always told Saylor to never kiss your ex, that there was a reason you broke up... but Saylor wasn't a very good listener. Audrey tasted like peach lip balm.
"Say," Audrey whispered, her hands resting on Saylor's hips. "I hate you,"Their lips connected again, and the kiss was full of anger, passion, and frustration.
"I-" Audrey paused to kiss Saylor again. "Am not a problem," Saylor only deepened the kiss, desperate to forget everything. If she concentrated hard enough, she was on her old apartment floor, it was Summer, and Audrey tasted of cherries and Fanta. The light was shining in onto the two girls, and everything was perfect. But it wasn't Summer, and Saylor wasn't kissing Audrey. She blinked, trying to wipe the fantasy from her mind. Gross. Yuck. Bad.A clicking sound echoed through the tinny room, and the elevator began to move.
"Perfect," Audrey said, smiling. "Well, it's been lovely catching up,"The second they were through those studio doors, they were strangers again. Saylor prayed it wouldn't always be that way, yet she wanted it more than anything else. Could she really choose to hate something she loved like a drug?
