The morning sun was warm and bright, casting a golden hue over the pristine golf course. Jamie stood beside Alex and Lily at the entrance of the clubhouse, stretching and taking in the fresh air. She had woken up early, eager for a relaxing day with her brother and best friend. It was rare to have these moments of downtime, especially with the hectic F1 season about to start. Golf was something that always brought her a sense of calm, and she hoped today would be the same.

As they gathered their golf bags and prepared to head inside for breakfast, Alex dropped some unexpected news.

"Oh, by the way," he said, slipping his hands into his pockets casually, "Lando, Carlos, and Logan are joining us."

Jamie's heart sank. Lando? Just when she had been looking forward to a peaceful day, here came the one person she had been trying to avoid. Her thoughts flashed back to the kiss, the crude remarks, and the way he seemed to constantly push her buttons. She had hoped that the distance between them over the last few days would help her forget how he made her feel—angry, confused, and sometimes, against her better judgment, intrigued.

She rolled her eyes, forcing a neutral expression onto her face. "Of course, Lando's coming," she muttered.

Alex, sensing her irritation, raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry, it'll be fine. He's been... better lately."

Jamie didn't respond. Instead, she sighed quietly and followed Alex and Lily inside the clubhouse. Logan was already there, waiting for them at a table, his cheerful smile lightening the mood a little. They all greeted each other, exchanging pleasantries as the waitress brought menus.

As they took their seats, the conversation flowed easily—mostly between Alex and Lily, with Logan chiming in now and then. Jamie stayed quiet, her mind lingering on Lando and how the day might unfold. She wasn't in the mood for his usual antics, and part of her hoped that maybe, just maybe, he would act like a decent human being like yesterday.

The door to the clubhouse opened again, and Jamie's heart sank even further as Lando and Carlos strolled in, looking relaxed and confident. Lando, with his usual air of charm, was grinning at something Carlos had said, completely unaware—or indifferent—to Jamie's internal dread.

"Morning!" Lando called out, his eyes sweeping across the group before landing on Jamie for a split second. He nodded at her, but there was no lingering glance, no smirk, just a simple acknowledgment.

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

They finished breakfast quickly, chatting about everything from the upcoming season to Lily's golf tournaments. The air was light, filled with laughter and easy conversation. Jamie found herself relaxing a little, especially when Lando remained quiet and didn't engage her directly.

After they ate, it was time to decide who would pair up for the round. Since there were six of them, they had to split into pairs, and the only fair way to do that was through rock, paper, scissors.

"All right, let's do this," Alex said, standing up and holding out his fist. "We'll do best of three, and the two who tie the most will pair up."

Everyone gathered around, ready to play. The first round went quickly—Alex, Carlos, Logan, and Lily all ended up with paper. Jamie and Lando both threw rock.

Round two came and went with similar results—again, Jamie and Lando both threw with scissors while the others picked rock.

By the third round, it was clear: Jamie and Lando were going to be paired together. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, unsure of how to feel. He had been quiet so far, not causing any trouble, so maybe it wouldn't be terrible.
