Alex and Carlos had been having a solid game, the kind where everything seemed to be going smoothly, even if the stakes weren't high. Their swings were light, their conversation easy, and the beautiful day made everything feel a bit surreal, especially with the season looming closer. As they rode their cart toward the next hole, Alex brought up the subject he'd been considering for a while.
"I've been thinking about moving to Monaco," Alex said casually as he adjusted his cap.
Carlos wasn't surprised. "It makes sense. A lot of drivers end up there. What made you decide?"
Alex shrugged. "Lando and George convinced me. I wasn't sure at first, but I started looking at some apartments, and it seems like the right move. A bit of privacy, good weather, no income tax... and most of the drivers live there anyway."
Carlos nodded knowingly. "It's a great place for us, especially with how close everything is. If you need recommendations, let me know. I've been living there a while."
Alex smiled. "I'll take you up on that. I've seen a few places I like, but I haven't decided yet. The only thing is... I haven't told Jamie yet."
Carlos glanced over at Alex, raising an eyebrow. "Why not? You think she wouldn't want to live there?"
"Yeah, something like that," Alex replied. "She's... well, you know how she is. She'd probably hate living so close to the other drivers, especially Lando and George. They're not exactly her favorite people."
Carlos chuckled. "I can see that. Jamie's always been one to stick to her opinions. But I'm sure she'd manage, especially with her job. Monaco's pretty central for F1."
Alex nodded, his face growing more thoughtful. "Yeah, I think so too. But I can understand why she'd want her space. Lando and George... they're great, but they can be a lot, especially when it comes to women. Jamie doesn't appreciate their attitude."
Carlos laughed softly, steering their cart toward the next hole. "I get it. They have their way of doing things, and it doesn't always sit right with everyone. Maybe I could have a chat with her sometime? I think she'd get along with Rebecca and Alexandra. We could introduce her at the Bahrain Grand Prix."
Alex's face brightened. "That could help. Jamie's not anti-social, but she's been keeping to herself more lately. It might be good for her to meet some of the other girlfriends."
Carlos took out his phone and quickly shot a message to Charles, letting him know about the idea. A moment later, he got a reply. "Charles says Alexandra will be at the Bahrain Grand Prix, and Rebecca's coming too. We'll introduce them then."
Alex felt a small sense of relief. He knew Jamie needed a break from the male-dominated world they were constantly immersed in, and being around some other women might help her decompress.
"Thanks for that, man," Alex said sincerely.
"No problem," Carlos replied. "Jamie's tough, but I think she'd appreciate it."
As they approached the thirteenth hole, Alex's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw a message from Jamie: I'm leaving early. Not feeling well. I'll see you later.
Alex frowned. Jamie had seemed perfectly fine this morning, excited even, about playing golf. His first thought was that maybe something had happened with Lando. He tried calling her right away, but it went straight to voicemail. His worry deepened as he stuffed his phone back into his pocket, his mind racing with possible scenarios.
"What's wrong?" Carlos asked as he set up his next shot.
"Jamie just left. Said she wasn't feeling good, but she was fine earlier... I have a bad feeling."
