Jamie's alarm blared at 8 AM, shaking her from an uneasy sleep. She rubbed her eyes, groaning at the stiffness in her limbs, a reminder of the stress that had weighed on her over the past few days. Stretching her arms above her head, she made her way to the bathroom and took a cold shower, hoping it would jolt her back into some sense of normalcy.
After drying off, she decided on her outfit for the day: a black mini skirt paired with a forest green cardigan, comfortable yet stylish. She slipped on her Nikes and grabbed the neatly wrapped package from her bed—the clothes she had ordered for Lando. She wasn't sure how she felt about delivering them to him indirectly, but at least it would be over soon.
Jamie's stomach growled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten yet. She made her way down to the hotel's restaurant, placing the package on the chair beside her and her purse on top of it. The buffet was already laid out, so she opted for a light breakfast of fruit, a croissant, and some orange juice. As she ate, she stared out the large windows, watching the early morning traffic pass by, and tried to relax, but her mind kept drifting back to Lando and the argument.
She was so lost in thought that she almost didn't notice the time. Finishing her breakfast, she got up and headed for the lobby to wait for Jon. Not long after, a car pulled up in front of the hotel, and Jon stepped out, his familiar calm presence reassuring. Jamie felt a mix of relief and nerves as she walked outside to greet him.
"Morning," Jon greeted her warmly, offering his hand.
Jamie shook his hand and smiled, handing him the package. "Thanks for doing this. I know it's kind of a weird favor."
Jon chuckled, his eyes kind. "No problem. I don't know exactly what's going on between you and Lando, but I'm happy to help." He paused, looking at her more closely. "Actually, if you don't mind, do you want to grab a drink and talk about it? I've noticed Lando's been... off these past few days, and it seems like it has something to do with you."
Jamie hesitated, unsure if she wanted to dive into the details of her fight with Lando. Jon was close to Lando, and opening up about everything felt risky. But there was something about Jon's demeanor that put her at ease, like he wouldn't push too hard. Besides, maybe hearing his perspective would help her understand what had been going on in Lando's mind.
"Alright," Jamie said after a moment. "But if I talk, you have to tell me what you've noticed about him."
Jon smiled, appreciating her conditions. "Deal."
They climbed into Jon's car, and Jamie sent Alex a quick text, letting him know she'd be out for a while. Jon drove to a small café about twenty minutes away from the hotel, a quiet place where they could talk without interruptions. After they both ordered drinks—Jamie opting for a simple iced tea—they settled into a corner booth.
Jon leaned back in his seat, his attention focused on Jamie. "So, what happened?"
Jamie took a deep breath before launching into the story. She started from the beginning, explaining how the tension had built between her and Lando since arriving in Bahrain. She told Jon about the club, where Lando had pushed the guy away from her, the unexpected kiss Lando gave her in front of Kean, and the heated argument at the clubhouse that had culminated in both of them saying things they regretted. It felt good to get it all out, though Jamie felt vulnerable afterward, unsure how Jon would react.
Jon sat quietly, processing everything she had said. After a long pause, he finally spoke. "I've noticed Lando's mood has shifted since we arrived. He's usually pretty easygoing, but something's been bothering him, and I couldn't figure out what. Hearing this... well, it makes sense now. He's been quieter, more withdrawn."
