MUNIRA'S POV
The tension in the house was palpable. My family and Hisham's family were crammed together, a strange mix of concern and frustration hanging in the air. The presence of the police and detectives only amplified the gravity of the situation. Haneefah and Salman, still fresh from their wedding, were a somber reminder of what should have been a joyous time. Instead, they were part of this mess, their honeymoon phase overshadowed by the crisis.
The inspector's voice cut through the murmur of conversations. He was pressing Baba for details about Haneefah's abduction. "I need you to tell me how she got kidnapped. Did you receive a call from them, or was it just an assumption?" he asked, his tone authoritative yet concerned.
Baba took a deep breath before responding. "Yes, we did receive a call. We thought Haneefah was coming back with her sisters. But they got a message saying she was coming with Jabir, one of Hisham's friends whom she was seeing with the intention of marriage."
The inspector nodded, scribbling notes in his pad. "Alright, we'll start by questioning Jabir. Hisham, can I have his number?"
Hisham stepped forward, his face a mask of worry as he handed over Jabir's contact information. The police and detectives, accompanied by Hisham, Baba, Abba, and my brothers, left for the station to begin their investigation.
As the detective's words hung heavily in the air, my mind raced to piece together the fragments of information I had. The detectives had obviously unearthed something significant, but how had they connected Jabir to both the kidnapping and my tragic past?
*The Investigation Process*
1. **Initial Evidence Collection:** The detectives had begun their investigation by examining all known contacts and associates of Sumayyah, including Jabir. During their questioning, they had scrutinized Jabir's alibi, phone records, and financial transactions. It was through this meticulous examination that they first began to suspect Jabir.
2. **Phone Records and Surveillance Footage:**
Jabir's phone records were a crucial starting point. The detectives discovered that he had been in frequent contact with known criminal elements involved in abductions. They traced calls and messages between Jabir and a notorious criminal organization responsible for several high-profile kidnappings. Surveillance footage from various locations also showed Jabir meeting with individuals linked to these crimes, providing a visual link between him and the criminal network.
3. **Witness Testimonies and Forensic Evidence:**
Witnesses who had seen Jabir near the scene of Sumayyah's kidnapping came forward. Their testimonies, combined with forensic evidence from the crime scenes, placed Jabir at key locations. This evidence built a case that Jabir had been orchestrating the abductions or, at the very least, was deeply involved in the operation.
