I can't believe he actually came.
He somehow managed to charm Seungkwan to allow him inside even without an appointment. What does he even gain from coming here? Is this some new type of scam? Good looking people approaching well known establishments? That doesn't sound new though. I just can't seem to read this guy's intentions.
"You really came." my tone of sarcasm slipped right there. Whether he notices it or not, I couldn't care much at this point.
"Of course, I did promise to drop by."
There's that foolish smile again. Makes me almost feel sorry for always wanting him gone.
"Well since you're here might as well ask you about your tooth. How has it been these past 3 days?"
"The pain is gone for sure, but the tooth seems to be a bit sensitive especially when it comes to cold food and drinks."
"Don't worry too much. That's normal after having a tooth drilled and filled. Give it a few more days and your tooth will become more accustomed to it."
"Doc, do you happen to like candy?"
I almost dropped the pen that I was holding and possibly skipped a heart beat when he asked me such a scandalous question. Scandalous at least for me, that is. Where did that even come from?
"Not really. I'm guessing you know why." A sudden chill ran through my back as I tried to keep my composure. Did he somehow see my stash of candy on my desk? It's hidden though? So I doubt he can even see it. Did I perhaps forget to throw all my candy wrappers inside my pockets? Impossible. I wouldn't forget such a thing. What the heck tipped him off?
"I still have a bunch of lollipops at home and don't know what to do with it, I figured I might as well give them to someone else."
Goodness. I thought I was gonna faint right there.
"No need to give them away really. You can still eat them but not always and only in moderate amounts. Just remember to gargle every time you eat sweets and give it some time after eating before brushing your teeth. You can't avoid sugar for the rest of your life you know?"
"So I'm guessing dentists do eat candy as well?" his smile was starting to make me feel queasy. Is he really on to me? or am I just being paranoid?
"Of course. I've been eating dark chocolates these days as they seem to suit my tastes the best."
My mom just gave birth to a pathological liar.
"Hmmm is that so? Then I will bring you some when I come back next time."
"You really don't need to though." You're just going to leave me feeling burdened by this act of kindness of yours.
"I insist. I know a good place that sells rich dark chocolates."
Then again who am I to decline such a sincere offering. My mind says no but clearly the heart wants what it wants.
"Do what you want then."
I went back to my work and finished arranging my charts. I had a pile of them since I was taking in a lot of patients this past week. I lost count of how many brackets I've glued on and veneers I've given. I was at my wits end. In fact, before this big dog entered, I was just about to de-stress myself by eating a chocolate bar that I now instinctively hid the moment he came in wagging his tail. When the heck is he leaving?
"You seem really busy, is there anything I can help you with?"
As much as I wanted to tell him to get lost, I just can't simply do that since he might go trash us online and ruin our chance in gaining potential customers. Which means no money, no candy.
