"Mingyu, aren't you supposed to be heading out now?"
"Vernon, you're here. Yes yes I was just about to head out the door. I just can't seem to find my hat."
I was still at the candy shop packing up some sweets for me and Wonwoo to bring during our trip later this afternoon. It took me quite awhile to finish, since I had some papers to finalize as well before I went on our 1 week trip to the nearby coastline. Vernon was here to fill in my shoes while we were away.
"You don't mean that one...on your head right?" he points to my head with a concerned look on his face.
"Was I wearing it the entire time?"
"Yeah you were. Jeez Mingyu, did you even sleep? You look pale. And that's something to worry about if it's coming from me." Vernon studies my face with furrowed brows and lets out a deep sigh.
"No need to look at me like that Vernon. I'm doing fine. Just missed a few hours of sleep, but I'll catch up during our trip."
"If you say so."
The familiar sound of the bell entrance rang throughout the shop, and in came Wonwoo. I was so sure at that moment, that I might have stopped breathing the second I saw him.
Why you may ask?
Because it was Wonwoo, duh
And if that wasn't a good enough reason
It was Wonwoo...
With glasses!!!
"Wonwoo. What--why---where---how---" the way the frames of his glasses just added another layer of handsomeness to his face just turned my brain into slush. I failed to even form coherent sentences when I was in front of him looking like that.
Vernon wasn't at all fazed and proceeded to introduce himself. "Hi, my name is Vernon. I'm the assistant manager in this shop, it's nice meeting you."
Wonwoo was looking dangerously breathtaking with those glasses on. My poor heart was all over the place. "Hello Vernon, my name is Wonwoo. I'm a dentist right across the street."
"Ahhhh so my sister was right. You are good looking." Vernon's words could have easily been misunderstood as flirting, but anyone who can see his face right now would be able to tell that he's just saying that as if stating a fact and has no other motives other than complimenting Wonwoo.
Wonwoo noticed how genuine Vernon was and accepted the compliment wholeheartedly. "Thank you, that's very nice of you to say. You yourself, are quite the good looking person as well."
"Hahahaha thanks. That means a lot coming from someone looking like you."
"Ahem." the two were just casually buttering each other up without a care in the world. Completely forgetting I was still even in the damn room. I couldn't help but feel a hint of jealousy after seeing how fast the two have become at ease with each other. "I'm still here."
"Sorry about that Mingyu, I'll take my leave then. I still have some work to tend to. Have a safe trip."
"Thanks Vernon." Vernon disappeared into the storage room and all that was left in the shop was me and Wonwoo. It was my first time seeing him step foot in this place looking like Dr. Jeon, plus the glasses. So I'd be lying if I said I wasn't fascinated by all of this.
"You're drilling holes on me again."
"Sorry I just didn't expect you to come by."
"I got bored waiting at the condo, figured you'd still be here."
It's been 6 days since the day he told me about the vacation thing. I was more than happy to plan and spend those days with him, but of course I had my hesitations. After our date, I wasn't as confident anymore that everything I planned would turn out well. Coupled with the fact that this would be a 1 week trip, many things could go wrong. But after he reassured me that he enjoyed our date and that he trusts me that I'd be a good tourist guide, I took him up on his offer and planned his vacation.
"Also, you're wearing glasses."
"Is there a problem? Does it look bad?"
"No no you look great. Maybe even too great."
"There you go again. I had them made 3 days ago. I knew someone who could work on them fast. I can't believe it took me this long to buy a pair. Wearing glasses feels so much better than contacts." his bright smile continued to grow wider as he examined the new frames in his hands. To me, the glasses were mere accessories at this point. He was handsome with or without them.
You could smother the man with mud or make him wear a potato sack and he'd still manage to pull it off and maybe even make it look couture or something.
"Well I can assure you, you made the right decision. Now shall we go back to your place?"
It was late afternoon by the time we walked back to his condo. Everyone around us were turning their heads as Wonwoo passed by. The man obviously had no faint clue and went his merry way towards his place. But I, on the other hand, made it my life's mission that day to tell everyone that HE. IS. MINE.
If glaring wasn't enough, I even shot up a few eyebrows to squealing teenagers and women that were eyeing Wonwoo up and down. I just loved the looks on their faces the moment I wrap my arm around his waist and inch my face closer to his ear, unnecessarily whispering to him something I could've just told him in my usual voice.
Wonwoo doesn't seem to mind the skinship, and is actually getting used to my clingy tendencies. He complains a lot but he never shoves me off anymore and just allows me to cling unto him for as long as I want.
After a few more minutes of walking we finally arrived at his place.
"Should we take a short break before starting the drive there?" he walked to the kitchen and fixed me some chocolate milk. Carefully, as to not strain his hand while doing so. I insisted that I wanted to do it myself, but he just glared at me and told me to sit and wait.
"I guess we still have some time. Traffic will be better too after a few hours. We can stay here for now." he hands me the warm cup and slowly sits down next to me on the couch.
Our day was going along swell. After resting for a bit, we'll be heading down south to where the beaches will be. I've booked us a nice accommodation with a great view, near good food and fun activities. I planned to even drive further down south to show him this cool new---
Rinnggg~~~
As I was daydreaming away with my hot chocolate, Wonwoo went back to the kitchen to tidy up the space. His phone was ringing right next to me.
"Wonwoo, you have a call."
"Who is it?"
I checked his phone and read the contact name displayed on the screen,
"It says Seungcheol."
He quickly walked back to the living room and grabbed his phone from my hand. He looked at his phone bewildered, mixed with a hint of hesitation.
"Aren't you gonna pick it up? Who is it anyways?"
"My ex."
