"Wait," she said placing a metallic hand on the peeling wallpaper next to the door. Next to her mid-breath Jaks paused heading for the handle.
Through tiny vibrations in her mechanical joints, she got her answer. "If you open that door we'll never see the neon night sky again," she told him after pulling away slowly and opening her eyes.
Through tinged pink lenses she looked around the frankly destroyed room. Mammoth-sized holes in the floorboards with littered items from dressers and tables were but the first thing she spotted. That didn't take into account the shattered glass or knocked-over furniture. We really made a mess in just a couple of minutes.
With a closing fist, he set his hand to his side and turned to her.
"So what do we do now then?" Staring around the room again her eyes locked on the sliding glass door which led to a balcony at the other end of the room then squinted.
"Not that way, there's no way they didn't think of that". With a large thump above them followed by multiple sets of footsteps, she brought her arms up to cross.
"We're surrounded on all sides no doubt," he said staring up at the ceiling. For once he was astutely correct. 'On all sides' she thought. With two firm knocks at the door, she put her plan into action.
"You've already ruined the floor this much, you think you can make it worse?" She asked slyly. Answering with a smirk Jaks moved to the center of the room while more firm prods at the door came through.
In borrowed time she hurriedly crouched down and put her hand to the floor. Focusing completely on what she could feel she gave a nod. Before she even got the chance to stand his foot already caved another board with repeated stomps sending a leg through.
With a nod to her Jaks pulled his leg back and raised it high. Paying no mind to the door as it splintered into multiple sections the floor had already crumbled beneath them.
As they dashed to the outside of the building she looked over to him. "We'll continue this another time."
Locking eyes with hers he smiled before hopping the railing down the first floor past her. "Damn, that's the direction I planned on going," she spoke to herself then moved to the stairs and vanished to the first floor.
