I'm outside in the palace courtyard, the sun is shining brightly above me. The wind pushes my hair gently. I hear the birds singing a melody. I walk to a big oak tree and sit under it. I like coming out here to read under the shade. I open the botany book I borrowed from Merlin, stroking the pages that show beautifully drawn plants. I hum to myself as I read about azaleas and daffodils. Different plants and their magical uses. A hard sound disturbs my peace, I look to see Mother coming down some stairs. She must have talked with Merlin. They're not getting along lately.
"Ah! That insufferable old-" she stops in the tracks as she spot me starring at her from above my book. Her face softens as she walks over to me.
"Hello, my darling girl. What are you reading?" She sits next to me and I lean into her side.
"Just a book I borrowed from Merlin." I show her the open book. "I was just curious about magical plants." I say. She hums and looks at the book. She hands it back to me and smiles. Pointing at her hand she makes a golden daffodil appear. It shines as I smile brightly. I look at her bright green eyes, they're warm with love.
An icy chill breaks through the air. One second I'm sitting next to my loving mother the next, I'm starring at the woman who took her away from me. I stand on the Trollmarket bridge and I run at Morgana to push her in a shadow portal. We end up in the shadow realm. It's cold darkness sends shivers through my body. In a second I feel choked by my grief and anger. It suffocates me. Black sludge dripping out my mouth.
"This is what you get for killing your Mother." Morgana's voice echos in my head.

I wake up in a sweat. Jumping up into a sitting position. I wipe the cold sweat off my forehead. The house is so quiet all I hear are the huffs of my labored breathing. My grief is catching up to me. Small tears fall down my face. I get out of bed and walk down the stairs to find the house empty. Only a note attached to the front door.
--I had an early shift today, sorry sweetie! See you when I get back tonight.

I sigh. She'll be back later. Ok. I walk to the kitchen and past the super mess that still involves our house. I open the fridge and there's...nothing. No breakfast, the fridge is desolate. Well, there's always eating out. I go back to my room and take a shower. I figure I could find something good somewhere, right? I get out of the shower and pick something to wear. Hmm, today I'm feeling like 'pretty' shit, so obviously I'm gonna wear my long green flowy skirt. With... my brown lace tank top? Yeah, that sounds fine. It's a little breezy today to I'll take a sweater and put on my brown Mary Janes.
I pull my hair into a messy bun as I grab my tote bag and walk out the door. One of my rings gets caught on my hair and I almost cry at the minor inconvenience. What a great start to my morning! I walk to my car and see a happy Hex waiting for me next to the driver's door. He's wagging his fluffy tail. Aw.
"Hey Hex, you waiting for me?" I ask sweetly. He truly makes my morning better.
"Of course, Red!" he waits for me to open the car door and he jumps in. "So where are we goin?" he sits in the passenger seat and I turn on the car.
"I don't know. I want to eat something but now that you're coming too, I don't know any dog friendly restaurants." I admit. He perks up.
"I know a place." he says wagging his tail.
