Chapter 10

The air in Cloud Recesses was heavy with an undercurrent of quiet sadness.
The usually vibrant and welcoming aura of the Lan Sect had dimmed since the Guanyin Temple incident. The impact of those tragic events lingered like a shadow, and nowhere was it felt more acutely than in the seclusion of their previous clan leader, Lan XiChen.

Lan XiChen had withdrawn from the world after the events at Guanyin Temple, a burdened heart compelling him to seek solitude.

The betrayal of Jin GuangYao, a man he had once considered a brother, had left deep scars. His sorrow was not just for the loss but also for the guilt that gnawed at him, for not believing Lan Wangjee when he had tried to warn him about Jin Guang Yao’s true nature.

It was in this somber context that Wei Wuxian found himself preparing for a meeting with Lan XiChen.

The meeting was not just a formality; it was a pivotal moment. Wei Wuxian knew that earning Lan XiChen's approval was essential for his acceptance within the Lan Sect, but more than that, he hoped to reach out to the man who had suffered so much.

Lan Wangjee had arranged for the meeting, understanding the importance of this moment for both his brother and his husband.

The formalities were subdued, given the circumstances. The grand hall, where such meetings would typically take place, was replaced by a more intimate setting, a small, serene pavilion nestled within a quiet corner of Cloud Recesses, surrounded by bamboo groves and the soft murmur of a nearby stream.

As they approached the pavilion, Wei Wuxian could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him. He glanced at Lan Wangjee, who nodded slightly, his expression a mixture of concern and encouragement.

This was not just about approval; it was about offering comfort and support to someone who had been a pillar of strength for so many and the captain of their ship.

Inside the pavilion, Lan XiChen sat quietly, his usually vibrant presence now subdued. His long hair was tied back simply, and his robes, while still elegant, seemed to reflect the muted tones of his current state of mind. He looked up as they entered, and for a moment, the sadness in his eyes was almost overwhelming.

Lan Wangjee stepped forward, bowing deeply. “Xiongzhang, thank you for agreeing to this meeting. I would like to introduce Wei Wuxian, my husband. (😃 to be husband).”

Wei Wuxian bowed as well, his heart heavy with empathy for the man before him. “ZeWu Jun, it is an honor to meet you, do you feel comfortable as this” he said respectfully.

Lan XiChen’s gaze rested on Wei Wuxian, and though his eyes held sorrow, there was also warmth there.

“Wei Wuxian,” he began, his voice soft but steady, “Welcome to Cloud Resses, so you two marry without me” Wei Wuxian panics..

“umm.. eerr.. ZeWu Jun , Actually we are not officially  married yet, how can we marry without you” he adds to complete more.

With understanding his eyes began to twinkle, with the softest knowing smile he ask, “ Wangjee, my didi so you accept  him as your husband already” now both love birds knew from this ZeWu Jun understood all the things.

With beet red ears Wangjee answered, “mn.. I have to take responsible and I love Wei Ying only” he cannot hide anything to his brother.

“ Did Uncle know this” he ask while hiding his amussed by seen how his baby brother and Wei Wuxian got shy.

“Nm…” Wangjee is out of words.

“ ZeWu Jun, Please spare us, if uncle knows he will kill me, that I ate his precious cabbage” Wei Wuxian jump in to the brother’s conversation.

Lan XiCheng smiles, he thought he can never smile again, but this Wuxian made him smile.

He wanted to tease his baby brother more. “Wangjee, do you love him than me”, he ask with smile.

Lan Wangjee looks up with widen eyes. XiChen’s smile widened,” just a joke didi. I will never ask such question.”

Wei Wuxian could see the toll the past months had taken on Lan XiChen. He hesitated, choosing his words carefully.

“ZeWu Jun, I know that these times have been difficult, and I cannot begin to imagine the pain you must feel. But I want you to know that you are not alone. There are many who care deeply for you, and who are here to support you.”

Lan XiChen’s expression wavered for a moment, as if he were struggling to maintain his composure.

“I appreciate your kind words, Wei Wuxian,” he replied quietly. “But the path I must walk is one I need to tread alone, at least for now.”

Wei Wuxian nodded, understanding that this was not something that could be easily resolved. “I respect your need for solitude, ZeWu Jun.
But please remember that when you are ready, there are those who are eager to walk that path with you, to help bear the burdens you carry.”

Lan Wangjee, who had remained silent after brother’s teasing, now spoke up, his voice filled with quiet determination.

“Xiongzhang, I …”

ZeWu Jun can read the incomplete thought in his didi’s mind. “Wangjee, I am Here for you always, you can meet me at any time, and Wuxian you can also, because you are my didi’s precious husband, he teased again.

This time both love bird got red tint.
There was a long silence, the only sound the gentle rustling of the bamboo leaves in the wind. Lan XiChen closed his eyes briefly, as if absorbing the words of his brother and Wei Wuxian.

When he opened them again, there was a flicker of something in his gaze, a small spark of hope, perhaps, or the first glimmer of healing.

“Thank you,” Lan XiChen said at last, his voice almost a whisper. “Your words mean more to me than you know.”

The meeting ended on a quiet note, with no grand declarations or promises.

It was a small step, but an important one. As Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangjee left the pavilion, Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy for Lan XiChen.

The road to recovery would be long and difficult, but at least now, Lan XiChen knew that he didn’t have to walk it alone.

Outside, the sky had begun to darken, and the first stars were appearing in the twilight. Wei Wuxian looked up, drawing comfort from the sight. He reached for Lan Wangjee’s hand, squeezing it gently.

“He’ll come back to us,” he said softly, more to himself than anyone else. “When he’s ready, he’ll come back.”

Lan Wangjee nodded, his grip on Wei Wuxian’s hand firm and reassuring.

“mn..,” he agreed quietly.

As they made their way back through the peaceful grounds of Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian felt a renewed sense of purpose.

There was much work to be done, both in proving himself to the Lan Sect and in helping those who had suffered so much.

But for now, he was content to take things one step at a time, with Lan Wangjee by his side and the knowledge that even in the darkest times, there was always hope.
