Bucky and I were in charge of bringing the cake to Sam's barbecue. I think it was to celebrate their boat or something. Honestly, I was still catching up on everything I missed while I was gone.

When we got to Sam's sister's house, I started chatting with her and we clicked immediately, while Bucky ran around playing with the kids.

"He's good with them," Sarah smiled, nodding towards Bucky and her nephews.

I blushed. "Yeah, I guess he is."

"Do you think you two would ever..."

My eyes widened. "Oh, god, no. I mean, I always wanted kids, but... With this world we're part of, I don't think it's possible. I'd never wanna bring kids into all this."

Sarah nodded. "Well, you guys are welcome to come over and take those two for a day."

I laughed. "Yeah, we might actually take you up on that. I think Buck's getting attached."

When he caught us staring at him, he jogged over, smiling and wrapping an arm around my waist, kissing the top of my head. "What are you two talking about?" he asked.

"Nothing," I smiled back, looking up at him and still not quite being able to believe that everything had worked out. After 99 years of knowing him, I was finally able to be with him.

He pressed his lips to mine, and only milliseconds later Sam shouted, "Hey! Get a room!"

We pulled apart as he came up to us, slapping Bucky on the back and laughing. "Look, I'm glad you two are finally happy or whatever, but there are children around!"

I rolled my eyes as I laughed, giving Sam a quick hug.

"Alright, I'll talk to you guys later. I wanna catch up with everyone in the neighbourhood."

"See you, man," Bucky nodded, before grabbing my hand and pulling me away from everyone.

Once we were on the beach and the laughter from the party was further away, he put his hands on my waist and I hung mine around his neck.

"You know, maybe we should get a room," Bucky smirked down at me.

I grinned and shook my head, letting his lips meet mine.

"God, I love you," he mumbled after a few minutes.

"What?" I asked, pulling away.

He grinned. "I love you. I'm in love with you."

We'd said it before, but that had been years ago. This felt new and exciting all over again. "I'm in love with you, too."

He grinned even wider and kissed me again and again until Sam yelled at us and said it was time to eat. But even after that, I got to go home that night and every night after that and kiss him as much as I wanted to.
