"Jodie, watch out!" Mia called, her voice dripping with annoyance.

"Yah, totes will... but why?" Jodie asked, glancing around cluelessly as a swarm of Eoldrans barreled toward her.

Mia sighed, rolling her eyes as she effortlessly burned them to ash. "Out of all people, Marjorie leaves me with you," she muttered under her breath.

"Totes thanks, Mia!" Jodie replied, still oblivious.

Mia groaned. "Of course."

As they crept closer to the abandoned pharmacy, Mia stopped dead in her tracks. "Jodie, stop," she whispered sharply.

"Why?" Jodie asked, far too loudly for Mia's liking.

"Shut up. I hear something," Mia hissed, annoyance lacing her voice.

Mia paused, focusing on the sound. It wasn't the usual shuffle of Eoldrans—it was human. Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly composed herself. Silently, she reached for her gun. As much as she loved the ease of using her powers, they were draining, and they needed to conserve energy.

Mia's mind raced as she considered her next move. Entering the pharmacy now felt risky. What if the person was armed? What if it was one of those men who had taken Ella? She bit her lip, trying to gauge her next step. This was different from the usual encounters. Even Mia, who was hardly one to scare easily, felt the tension rise.

Mia glanced around, trying to think of a plan, until her eyes landed on Jodie, who stood there clueless as ever.

"Jodie," Mia said, her tone suddenly sweet.

"Yah?" Jodie responded, oblivious.

"How about you go into this building? I'm sure whoever's inside would love to meet you and make a new friend!" Mia suggested, masking her manipulation with a cheery voice.

"Totes will!" Jodie chirped, skipping into the pharmacy without hesitation.

"Do you want to be my friend?" Jodie asked the stranger inside.

"No," came the cold response, followed by the unmistakable sound of a gun loading.

Mia's eyes widened in alarm. As much as she didn't like Jodie and wouldn't really care if something happened to her, the thought of Marjorie going ballistic flashed through her mind. Without hesitation, she bolted into the building, throwing herself in front of Jodie with her gun aimed firmly at the man in front of them.

Mia's eyes widened as recognition hit her. The man standing in front of her wasn't just any stranger—it was Roger.

"Roger?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.
