"Okay, so, Mia and—" Marjorie began before Mia cut her off sharply.

"There is no way in hell I'm going on a mission," Mia said coldly, crossing her arms defiantly.

"Who's asking you, Mia?" Marjorie snapped back, her patience already wearing thin.

"You can't force me," Mia muttered, her tone dripping with defiance.

Marjorie, visibly irritated, sighed and shot back, "I'm the leader, so yeah. I can."

Mia shook her head stubbornly. "No, you can't," she grumbled under her breath.

Marjorie clenched her jaw, trying to keep her frustration in check. "You can torture Roger when we get back. As much as I hate to admit it, you're stronger than most of us, and we need you there," she added, her words laced with reluctant acknowledgment.

Mia rolled her eyes, unimpressed. "Get Autumn or something," she suggested lazily.

"No," Marjorie snapped quickly, her voice growing more urgent. "No, Mia, we need you. Not Autumn. You."

Before Mia could retort, Charlotte shot her a warning look—one that said, just do it and stop complaining. Mia rolled her eyes dramatically and huffed, "Fine, fine, whatever. Continue."

Marjorie grinned, feeling a small victory. "Anyway, Mia and Jodie will enter this wa—"

Mia groaned loudly, cutting her off again. "Oh for fuck's sake, Marjorie!"

Marjorie pinched the bridge of her nose. "What now?" she asked, exasperated.

"Jodie? Give me someone else," Mia demanded, her tone making it clear she wasn't going to budge.

"Seriously?!" Marjorie shouted, her voice rising in frustration.

Mia crossed her arms tighter. "Give me someone else, or I stay here," she said, her tone final, daring Marjorie to challenge her.

Marjorie let out a loud groan. "Fine, oh my god. Okay, then Winter is with Charlotte, Lila, and Jodie, and Mia is with Ella. Is this better for you, your majesty?" she asked mockingly, her sarcasm dripping.

"Yay, Mia!" Ella cheered happily from the side.

Mia smiled warmly at Ella, completely ignoring Marjorie's sarcastic jab.

Then they left, as Mia and Jodie hadn't gotten pharmacy supplies last time, Mia and Ella's task was to find/gather pharmacy supplies. As they walked through the corridors of the abandoned mall, Mia's gaze flickered around nervously. Her eyes darted across the halls with every step they took, her tension palpable.

"Are you okay?" Ella asked, noticing Mia's discomfort.

"Yeah," Mia replied quickly, her voice clipped, trying to brush it off.

"Don't worry. There's barely any risk of them being here. Eoldrans are quite noisy creatures, we would know," Ella said, her voice soft, as if trying to soothe Mia's rising anxiety.

Mia paused for a moment, then smiled faintly. "You're so smart. If only the war hadn't happened, I would've been going to your parents' evenings with your mother. I bet all the teachers would love you," Mia said, her voice tinged with a bittersweet tone, a fleeting warmth trying to mask the unease she was feeling.
