You said you would never do me wrong,
Never leave me broken, all alone.
Said a million things, but now I know,
That I should stick to the promises I made,
To myself, but I was swayed.
I was just a puppet in your show.
Your brittle lips, lies slip out,
Made sweet by my tongue.
Sugar coated lies, keeps me wanting more.
In a fierce fire blaze, a honey-induced daze,
Unaware of what was in store.
Saying what I wanted to hear,
Calling me “honey,” “dear.”
Stuck in your spider web,
I was a fly, not struggling,
Unaware I was trapped,
Lying in the sticky sap,
Of the euphoria your words did bring.
But now I see; now I know,
I was just a puppet in your show,
Attached to the strings,
That you were pulling.
But now I am free,
And now I see,
So now, finally, I can spread my wings.
