A smile graces her lovely face,
Jewels sparkle in her eyes.
They do not know how many times that face has screamed,
Or how many times those eyes have cried.
She emits a happy melody,
And seems to never fall.
They do not know that it's all a show,
And how many times she has been roughly shoved against a wall.
She does not talk of her life at home,
This, they just dismiss.
She does not say she wants to die,
Be bestowed with deaths' tender kiss.
She is always nice and kind,
But always wears long sleeves.
They do not know what adorns those arms,
Bruises, scattered like fallen leaves.
She seems to speak her mind,
But it's just what they want to hear.
They do not know that her mind is broken,
Torn apart by fear.
~
She walks home alone,
Declining the offer to be with someone.
She timidly walks in her door,
And then he has his fun.
"Where you going pretty girl?"
"Don't walk away from me."
He hits her until she is a bloodied mess,
And then she is finally free.
Death embraces her with open arms,
Saying "I'm sorry my dear."
"Sleep now, you'll be alright,"
"No longer do you have to fear."
The father, no emotion for what he's done,
Says she was just worthless scum.
He did not know the neighbors heard the screams,
And they called 911.
The police show up at his house,
And break down the door.
They see the dead girl, and the drunk dad,
And charge him with murderer.
The girl sees all this from above,
And she smiles, relieved.
Her father has finally gotten what he deserves,
So now she can finally sleep.
