_____________________________________Approximately 40 hours, 16 minutes and 29 seconds after the police took Preston from me, he was finally released and back on the mean streets of Whitfield!
His court date is set in August and my Dad is looking to score a plea deal for him. He said he could get them to drop the assault charge if he plead guilty to disturbing the peace. My dad also said something about him getting a fine or community service but Preston was happy with anything that didn't include jail time. So was I.
Mom and Dad are still working on the Luke thing. I told them everything. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Yes, even the bit about me cheating on him with Preston. It was kind of hard to keep that information out.
So far I've held off Dad from going full throttle on Luke's ass but he's not set on dropping it completely. I'm afraid we may have yet another lawsuit on our hands.
I can see it now...
Plaintiff: Parker Lockwood.
Defendant: Luke Pierson.
Ever since he's been sprung, Preston's had this persistence in wanting to take me out on a proper date. I agreed that we should but I wanted to do something really fun after everything we'd been through.
Originally, he just wanted to have a nice dinner out or to go to the movies but I really wanted to go to an amusement park. I hadn't been to one all summer and it was the one thing I really REALLY wanted to do.
Preston was very against the idea for whatever reason but folded after my constant begging and pleading.
We set a date to go on Friday, right before Fourth of July weekend so that we could see one of the park's fireworks displays.
What started out as a date between Preston and I became a double date with Levi and Leah. Well that just grew into Elijah wanting to go and then Dylan wanted to come with Julie. Julie invited Darcy and then I invited Alyssa. The whole date devolved into a group thing but I'm not complaining.
I always have fun with my friends and it's not like Preston and I can't sneak away for alone time together.
Since our impending date on Friday was no longer an intimate affair, I agreed to meet Preston at the garage and spend the evening with him there before going back to his place.
I just wanted to watch him fix up cars all sweaty and shirtless like he should've been doing all summer long. He always looked so relaxed when he was working. Almost like how my grandpa used to look when he was doing a crossword puzzle. There's just something about the way men concentrate that makes you pay attention.
Preston never really talked to me about his time in jail but I could tell he was a little shaken. He didn't look bad or anything but he definitely looked exhausted. I felt bad that he had to spend time in jail but he didn't seem to have any regrets whatsoever.
I kept asking him what it was like on the inside and he would just give me these exasperated looks.
"How many times are you going to ask me that?" He rolled his eyes as he picked up his pen light.
I was standing in the garage, watching him work on a car he'd been cursing at all night. In order to pay his dad back for bailing him out of the big house, they made an arrangement where Preston would work overtime until he paid off his debt.
It was going on eight o'clock and the garage was empty besides the two of us. All of the other mechanics had gone home and Mr Dunn had left hours ago.
I hovered around Preston and tried to see what he was doing and how he was doing it. I was growing jealous of that stupid car getting all of his attention so I decided to distract him a bit.
