Daniel huffed, readjusting her collar and tugging a hand through her slightly knotted hair. Staring in the mirror, she couldn't help but feel a sense of worry wash over her. It was perfect. The dress was perfect. But every time her eyes landed on her own face it just didn't feel right. . .like the dress wasn't for her, like it didn't work. . .when it was on her. At the store, she had known that the dress was beautiful, her only worry was if it looked alright here, now, with her adorning it. It had a top similar to a loose cream button up shirt, a black corset held together the center of the dress like a separation belt, and a light purple, asymmetrical open front skirt that held black shorts underneath. Her black knee high boots were a perfect color match to the corset piece, and the bow, that wasn't yet in her hair, matched the skirt of the dress without fault. Surely it looked okay.
"Absolutely stunning."
The sudden voice startled Daniel, causing her to turn around with a light jump. "Anthony." She breathed out, a hand on her chest of relief. She could sense sources from a mile away, but she couldn't even hear the tall boy's steps against her own floor. If they were on a case she would've seen him coming. Most definitely.
"Hey." He smiled, standing up from the doorframe he had been leaning on. The brunet had an impeccable suit on. A black blazer that hadn't been buttoned, a pearl white shirt that wasn't quite tucked into his black pants, and a black tie that was loosely hanging onto his shoulders, not even crossed over itself yet.
"Thanks." She smiled, looking up at him as he walked into the room. "I thought it looked nice, I'm just not sure. . ." Daniel's hands smoothed over the smooth purple fabric of her dress.
"I wasn't talking about the dress." Anthony shook his head, reaching a hand out and pushing Daniel's hair behind her ear. She grew confused, her head tilting to the side and her brows drawing together. But then, she realized, just by the look in his eyes. He wasn't talking about the dress.
"Oh." She whispered gently.
"I saw you and Lucy talking to Kipps out the street."
"It wasn't anything to talk about, he just wanted to ask Lucy out." Daniel nodded gently.
"Right. 'Course he does. Trying to take something else from us. First you, now Luce." Lockwood shook his head with a scoff.
"Seriously? That's what you're focused on?"
"Right. Sorry." He nodded with a smile. "I won't talk about Kipps, I promise."
"Better not."
"Oh- I. . .I got you something." He gave a shaky smile. He was nervous, it was a look Daniel had rarely seen from him when they weren't out fighting spirits or ruthless humans.
"You got me something?"
"Yeah, it's nothing really. . .It belonged to someone I was close with." He rummaged through his pocket, pulling out a thin silver chained necklace. "I thought you'd like it. It was my mother's." His voice grew tense, quiet at the end.
Daniel gently took it in her hands, looking at the beautiful teardrop diamond. "It's absolutely beautiful, Locks." She whispered.
"Something pretty to accentuate your astonishment, Dani." The brunet responded with a grin, carefully putting his hand against hers to hold the jewel. "May I?"
Daniel only nodded, turning around and holding her hair out of the way as Lockwood was attentive with his movements as he lay the necklace against Daniel's collarbone, clipping the clasp delicately. "How does it look?"
"The most incredible thing I've ever seen." Anthony smiled, looking straight into Daniel's eyes. "The necklace is alright too." He quipped, getting a laugh out of his brunette companion.
