It was 3:45 pm, Daniel was smoothing the wrinkles out of her shirt so that she would be more presentable. The interviews would be starting in near fifteen minutes and she was only slightly bothered still. She had no right to be, she knew that. She was new, there was no reason for Anthony to have to tell her about the open position. There was no reason for her to feel like he was hiding things from her. There was no reason in the slightest that she should feel like he wanted to replace her, or that anyone could. She was the fourth highest ranked agent at Fittes for crying out loud. And truth be told, nobody that good at being an agent was going to find themselves at Lockwood & Co. So she had nothing to worry about. . .Right?
Daniel walked down the stairs, her hair pulled back in a loose ponytail tied by a yellow ribbon. She had white trainers on, her jeans were rolled so they were cuffed just before her ankle and her white t-shirt was tucked carefully into the belt line, her over-sized purple jacket reaching to her mid thigh. She hopped off the bottom step, smiling when she heard a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" She called, running to answer the door like a kid hurrying to the living room on Christmas Day. She pulled the door open, a girl a bit older than her standing on the other side. The girl had wavy black hair and adorned a scowl.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Daniel, nice to meet you." The brunette stuck her hand out, frowning when the girl looked past her to see Anthony Lockwood in the hallway.
"Ah, hello, you must be Eleanore Wright. I'm Anthony Lockwood." The black haired girl beamed, pushing past Daniel's extended hand to go shake Lockwood's instead. Daniel's eyebrows pinched and she frowned, shutting the door and walking toward the living area where Lockwood and Eleanore had gone.
"You've got the sight, is that right?" Lockwood looked up at the smiling girl.
"That's right, I can hear too. Can't feel though. I can mostly see trails and death glows, you know." Eleanore nodded.
The brunet hummed, looking at her forms in his hand. "Sight's my thing too. George has the hearing and touch. Daniel on the other hand has all three, but's best with touch and sight."
"Who are George and Daniel? They sound lovely." She pandered, gaining a scoff from the girl in question.
"Well, you've already met Daniel, and George will be in in just a minute." Lockwood assured with a tight nod. "It says you trained out west with an agency over in that area, Stanton, is that right?" Lockwood looked up at the black haired girl, only just noticing the frown on Daniel's face. He had to fight down a sour look at the sight of it. He didn't like the look of her frowning, it left a pit in his stomach.
"Yes."
"I read your reference, it seemed alright." Lockwood continued talking with the girl.
George walked in, looking Daniel's face over with a small frown. "You okay?"
She gave a small smile and a nod. "Just fine, thanks."
"If you say so." The curly haired boy walked over, placing a tray with two pots of simmering tea next to Lockwood.
"Would you like some tea? We've got black and peppermint." Lockwood offered.
"Black, please." She held her bright smile. Anthony nodded, pouring both her and himself a cup.
George made his way back over to where Daniel was leaning on the wall, standing next to her. "For what it's worth, she seems like a bolter."
Daniel laughed, covering her mouth with the back of her hand. Lockwood looked at her with a gentle look of mixed confusion and adoration while Eleanore turned around and glared. She dropped her smile, going to anxiously pull at her fingers instead.
