Chapter 9: A Brave Face
The following day, Gaston couldn't wipe the smile off his face.
While he was at the bar, Lefou approached him and asked, "Did you enjoy your date last night?"
Gaston responded, "Absolutely! Jackie and I share a lot of similarities. We both lost our fathers while they were serving, and we take care of our families. Talking to Jackie is effortless; she doesn't judge me like Belle does. I used to think Belle was the most beautiful woman in town, but I was mistaken. Jackie is truly the most beautiful and kind-hearted person. I'm thankful Belle turned me down; I wouldn't want to spend my life with someone as judgmental as her."
"I told you that there were other girls!" LeFou replied happily.
"I am sorry I was a jerk to you. I do not know why you put up with me," Gaston replied.
"I love you. You are my brother. I already forgot about that so stop worrying. I am just glad you are happy," LeFou assures Gaston.
"I was on my best behavior. I did not talk about myself or my days in the war. Jackie is going to be my future wife," Gaston replied, showing LeFou the engagement ring.
"Am I going to be your best man?" LeFou asks.
"Of course you are, but please keep this between us. I do not want my uncle to find out about Jackie," Gaston pleaded.
"Do not worry I will not say anything," LeFou agrees.
Later, Gaston was in town and he saw Belle, Maurice, and Roland. Gaston no longer cared about Belle. He walked past them without looking back. While walking, Gaston witnessed Nicholas fighting with Julie, after which Nicholas stormed off, leaving Julie in tears. Gaston felt no sympathy for Julie because he knew that Nicholas didn't love her, yet she still pressured him to marry her. Gaston believed she deserved it for being manipulative and causing Nicholas and Lisa to break up. He also thought Nicholas was a coward for not standing up to his dad.

Prince Adam
Henry visited Prince Adam while Mrs. Potter was preparing a large dinner. "Where's Adam?" Henry inquired.
"He's in his room getting ready for dinner," Mrs. Potter answered.
Henry headed directly to Prince Adam's room.
"Adam, I met Rachel's family, and they're worried about her. Could you let them visit her so they can feel reassured that she's alright?" Henry asked.
"Of course, they can visit her whenever they like," Prince Adam responded.
Henry noticed that the servants seemed pleased. Mrs. Potter was eager to become human again. Henry felt sympathy for the servants, believing that Rose had no right to curse them or Prince Adam.
Roland
When Roland returned home, he found out that Anne had lost the baby. Although he felt upset, he was relieved that Anne was alright. He hurried to comfort her.
"I'm so sorry about the baby. I know I let you down," Anne said sadly.
"I don't feel let down by you. I don't blame you for what happened. These things occur, and no one is at fault. I'm just thankful that you're okay," Roland reassured her.
"What if I can't have children?" Anne questioned.
"Anne, I didn't marry you just to have kids. I married you because I love you and want to spend my life with you. We can always adopt; there are many children who need loving homes," Roland replied, offering her comfort once more.
"I simply don't want to hinder you from being a father," Anne said with a hint of sadness.
"Please don't stress over that. You should focus on your recovery," Roland urged Anne.
The next day, the doctor arrived to check on Anne.
"How are you feeling, Anne?" the doctor asked.
"I'm doing okay," Anne replied.
"I'm Anne's husband, Roland Ross," Roland introduced himself.
"I'm Jake Madison," Jake introduced himself.
"Do you know Andrew Madison and Ryan Madison?" Roland asked. "They're my brothers," Jake replied.
"We're going to be family pretty soon," Roland added.
"Anne nearly died when she miscarried the baby. I don't think it would be wise for her to get pregnant again. You could always consider adoption," Jake suggested.
