Davis drove down the dimly lit streets, his mind on Sadira

Davis drove down the dimly lit streets, his mind on Sadira. She'd texted him earlier, telling him she was feeling overwhelmed, and it had tugged at his heart. The last few days had been a whirlwind for both of them. Sadira had been so strong, but he could tell this pregnancy had her worried, even if she didn't always say it out loud. He understood, though. The uncertainty of what was coming could be terrifying, especially for someone like Sadira, who always wanted to have things under control.

As he pulled up to her house, he noticed that her lights were still on, but everything seemed quiet inside. He parked the car and grabbed his things, heading up to the door with his keys jingling in his hand. When he opened the door and stepped inside, the scent of her perfume lingered in the air—warm, sweet, and familiar.

The house was quiet, but not in a lonely way. It felt peaceful. He walked further into the living room, setting his things down on the table, and that's when he saw her. Sadira was stretched out on the couch, fast asleep, curled up in a blanket. Her breathing was steady, her face soft and relaxed, and for the first time in days, she didn't look like she was worrying. She looked peaceful, and that made him smile.

Davis stood there for a moment, just watching her. He could see the faint rise and fall of her chest, her lips slightly parted as she slept, her hair cascading over the pillow. She looked so beautiful, and in that moment, he couldn't believe how lucky he was. The woman he loved was carrying his child, and despite all the fears and uncertainties they both had, there was something so perfect about this moment.

He carefully leaned down and scooped her up into his arms. She stirred a little, letting out a soft sigh but didn't wake up. She always slept so deeply when she was exhausted, and it had been a tough few days. Davis carried her through the house, the weight of her body familiar in his arms, as he headed toward the bedroom.

Once they reached the bed, he gently laid her down on the mattress, making sure to tuck her in beneath the covers. She instinctively curled into the warmth of the blankets, still not fully awake, but murmuring something softly in her sleep. Davis smiled as he watched her. She looked so small in the big bed, her face still peaceful.

He stood there for a moment, just looking at her, before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower. The hot water felt good against his skin, soothing his tired muscles after a long day of work. But his mind kept drifting back to Sadira, to the way she looked so vulnerable yet strong at the same time. He thought about the baby, how they were going to raise a child together, how their lives were about to change forever.

After drying off, Davis slipped on a pair of sweatpants and made his way back to the bed. Sadira was still curled up, looking small and fragile under the covers, and it made his chest tighten with affection. He climbed into bed beside her, careful not to wake her, and slid an arm around her waist. Almost instinctively, she moved closer, snuggling into him as if she had been waiting for him to come back.

He kissed the top of her head, breathing in the familiar scent of her shampoo. "I love you," he whispered softly, his lips brushing against her forehead. He could feel her soft curls against his skin, and the warmth of her body pressed against him made everything feel right.

"Mmm... I love you too," Sadira mumbled in her sleep, barely coherent but enough to make his heart swell. She shifted closer, her hand resting on his chest, her body fitting perfectly into his.

Davis couldn't help but smile as he pulled her in tighter, feeling the rhythm of her breathing against his chest. There was something about holding her, about being close to her, that made all of the stress and worries of the day melt away. He kissed her forehead again, letting the moment sink in. It was in these quiet moments that everything felt real—their love, the baby, the future they were building together. It was all happening, and it was both terrifying and beautiful.

He thought about what she'd said earlier, about being scared. He knew Sadira was strong, but even the strongest people had their moments of doubt. And that's why he was here. To remind her that she didn't have to go through this alone. He would be there for her, every step of the way, no matter what.

He softly traced his fingers along her arm, watching her chest rise and fall with every breath she took. He loved her more than he could ever express, and now, they were about to start this incredible new chapter together. They didn't know the gender yet, but it didn't matter. Boy or girl, this baby was already a blessing in their lives.

"Hey," he whispered, though he knew she wasn't fully awake. "You're gonna be an amazing mom. I know you're scared, but we got this. We're in this together, okay?"

Sadira let out a soft, contented sigh in response, her hand tightening its grip on his chest.

Davis couldn't stop thinking about the future. He imagined late nights holding their baby, rocking them to sleep, or laughing together over diaper changes. He thought about teaching their child to walk, to talk, to ride a bike. He imagined Sadira, her face glowing with pride as their child ran into her arms, their small hands reaching out for her.

And then, the worries crept back in. He knew it wasn't going to be easy. Parenting never was. There would be sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and times when they both felt like they were in over their heads. But as long as they had each other, he knew they could handle it.

He looked down at her, her head resting peacefully against his chest. She was his everything. The one person who made him feel like the world made sense. And now, they were about to bring a new life into that world. It was a lot to take in, but it was also the most beautiful thing he could imagine.

Davis leaned down and kissed her forehead again, feeling the weight of everything settle in his chest. "I love you so much," he whispered one more time, even though she was already lost in sleep.

She smiled slightly in her sleep as if hearing his words, and he couldn't help but chuckle softly. He wrapped his arms around her tighter, feeling her warmth, and closed his eyes.

At that moment, all the worries of the world faded away. It was just him, Sadira, and the life they were building together. Whatever challenges came their way, they would face them head-on. Because that's what love was. It was showing up, being there for each other, and taking on whatever life threw at them—together.

As the night deepened, Davis found himself drifting off to sleep, his thoughts full of the future, their baby, and the incredible journey they were about to embark on. He had no idea what the next few months would hold, but he knew one thing for sure: they were going to be okay. Because they had each other. And that was all that mattered.
