Sadira stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down her light pink ruffle off-the-shoulder dress, her hand resting on the growing curve of her belly. At 22 weeks pregnant, the weight of the twins had started to settle, but today was special—her baby shower. Her hair was styled in a side-part quick weave, curled softly, cascading over her shoulders. She'd decided to go with a natural look, no makeup except for her freshly tinted eyebrows and long lashes that framed her eyes. She couldn't stand the smell of foundation lately, but she didn't mind. With her nails done in a Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme, medium-length coffin-shaped, Sadira felt the perfect blend of glam and comfort. Each nail was detailed meticulously—her ring fingers dotted with polka dots, one pink with white dots, the other blue, and the rest decorated with bows and Mickey and Minnie heads.
In the reflection, Davis walked up behind her. His fresh line-up made him look even more striking than usual, his dark hair sharp against the blue linen Amiri bandana button-up shirt he wore. His Dior white pants were crisp, and his Louis Vuitton Trainer Maxi sneakers matched the shade of blue in his shirt. His hand gently caressed her belly as he smiled at her, admiring her in the mirror.
"You ready, babe?" he asked, his deep voice filled with affection.
Sadira turned slightly, resting her hand over his. "Ready as I'll ever be."
Davis crouched down, helping her into her Gucci Damita GG espadrille sandals, carefully fastening each buckle. He knew her feet wouldn't last long in these shoes, so without her asking, he had already packed her Hello Kitty house shoes in the backseat of the truck. He was always like that—thoughtful, looking out for her needs before she even mentioned them.
They stepped outside, and Davis guided her into the passenger seat of their truck. In the backseat sat all the essentials: the house shoes, a blanket, and her neck pillow. Sadira smiled softly as she settled in. This was typical Davis—always attentive.
The drive to the baby shower was peaceful, the hum of the engine underscoring the quiet anticipation. Sadira rested her hand on her belly, feeling the twins shift slightly. Davis reached over, squeezing her other hand, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin.
When they arrived at the venue, it was more than Sadira could have imagined. The entire room was decorated in a whimsical Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme, with pastel pinks and blues covering every surface. A rack by the entrance held Mickey and Minnie ears with a sign reading, *"Grab your ears and celebrate!"* The room was filled with light and warmth, the walls adorned with balloon arches and banners. Tables were set with matching themed linens, and in one corner, a massive cake stood tall, decorated with a pink bow for their baby girl and red and black details for their baby boy.
