Emma quickly got up, pulling on her robe. She tied it tightly around her waist, trying to steady her nerves. "Alex?" she called again, her voice tinged with worry. She walked through the house, checking each room and looking for any sign of him.
Emma's search through the house was beginning to make her more anxious until she finally reached the kitchen. There, to her surprise, she found Alex, shirtless, standing by the stove and making pancakes. Relief and amusement washed over her as she chuckled softly."Well, this is a sight to wake up to," Emma said with a smile, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind.
Alex chuckled, leaning back slightly into her embrace. "Good morning, beautiful," he said, his voice warm and inviting. He turned his head to kiss her temple. "I thought I'd make us breakfast."
Emma sighed contentedly, resting her head against his back. "Last night was... unexpected," she murmured, her voice filled with affection.Alex turned around, slipping his arms around her and holding her close. "Yeah, it was," he agreed, his eyes twinkling with a mix of genuine warmth and hidden calculation. "But I'm not complaining."
Emma smiled up at him, the worries from earlier melting away. "Me neither," she said softly, standing on her tiptoes to kiss him.
Emma slipped around to his side, grinning as she leaned against the counter, watching him work. "You know," she started, her eyes playful, "I could get used to this."
Alex turned to face her, his expression warm as he flipped the last pancake onto the stack. "Yeah?" He stepped closer, resting his hands on either side of her, caging her against the counter. His face was so close to hers that she could feel his breath on her skin. "What part? The pancakes or...?" He let his words trail off with a teasing smirk.
She blushed, her heart fluttering as she playfully swatted his chest. "Both, maybe."
They shared a quiet laugh, but as Emma leaned in closer, her lips brushing against his neck, Alex's mind churned with plans. He had to stay close to her, much closer than before. He couldn't risk being caught. The evidence was still in her house somewhere, and if he made any rash moves, she'd notice.
He slid his arms around her, pulling her in for a hug, all while his mind calculated the next steps. He knew she was falling for him, that much was clear in her every smile, every touch. And that was something he could use.
But as much as he tried to stay detached, he couldn't deny the electricity that sparked between them. The mistake of last night. He had lost focus, given in to the heat of the moment, and now, here he was—cooking pancakes, pretending like it didn't change things. But it did. He was getting too close which affects his whole plan.
As Alex held her, feeling her warmth, he couldn't help but reflect on how dangerously close he was walking the line. The way she fit so perfectly against him was... unsettling. His original plan had been so clear—get in, get the evidence, get out. But now he had tangled himself in emotions, desires, and a night of passion that had clouded his judgment.
He couldn't afford another mistake. The pendant she had found at the crime scene was just the start. There was more to hide, more to cover up, and Emma was getting too good at finding clues.
Alex pulled back slightly, giving her a charming grin as he brushed a stray strand of hair from her face. "So... about last night," he began, his voice carefully casual, "No regrets?"
Emma laughed softly, her cheeks tinged pink. "No regrets. In fact... I wouldn't mind making it a habit."
Alex's heart skipped a beat, not from affection, but from the sheer complication her words posed. He needed to keep her close, yes, but not too close. If she became too attached, it would only make things harder when the time came to sever ties—or worse. But little did Alex know that he could be able to kill her more easily or even can manipulate her with this pathetic emotions.
As he smirk to himself and pulled her on a hug and kisses her neck softly. "Mmm I guess I'm falling for you more deeper" as he told with a whispered way and trail kisses on her neck as his hand slipped under her shirt.
Emma let out a soft chuckle and gently strokes his hair "Is that so?. well i wouldn't mind falling for you as well". Well, now it'll make Alex's job more easier but then Emma is an professional detective anyway so he know well enough it really won't be easy to fool her around so he better be careful.
