Scared Love

chapter 6

I slowly get out of bed and go to wash my face.  I will take a shower later on.  It's been three days since I have seen Mathew.  Ever since that night of the nightmare he leaves early in the morning and comes late at night.  He's been avoiding me and I don't know why.  I hear some movement in the kitchen.

Is Matt home today? 

I leave to go and check.  I find a lady cooking.  She's really focused that she didn't hear me walk in.  Who is she? 

" Umm hi " she turns around.  She instantly smiles at me.  " Good morning Rose. I'm Mr Walker's  house keeper."  Why did Matt tell me he had a house keeper.  "Hi nice to meet you miss-,. "

" Oh it's Sarah Marshall." she says.  Marshall? That's a familiar name.  Matt usually says that name over the phone. Realisation hits me. 

" Are you related to John?" I ask her.  " Yes he's my husband. " She blushes a little.  " Oh my god I never thought John had a wife." her face goes pale.  I continue " I don't mean it in a bad it's just that it never crossed my mind." I try to explain.  "  I understand." she smiles " well it was really greet meeting you.  I'm going to take a shower so if you need me I'm in my room. "  she nods and I leave. 

The shower is warm.  I grab my sweatpants and a T-shirt.  My laptop keeps flashing and I grab it and sit on my bed.  There are a few emails from my Mum.  Oh shot I didn't call her back .  I dial her number and she picks up at the second ring. 

" Hi Mama I'm sorry I didn't call you back  I was kinda busy. " I explain myself.  " No it's fine Rose.  I wanted to let you know that I was called by the doctor.  He says I need a few more scans and crazy stuff that happens when you are sick." we both laugh " Are you okay though?" I ask her.  " I'm okay sweetie don't worry. " I smile even though she can't see me.  " How's that arrogant man? I hope he's now finally treating you right." I sigh and answer her.  " He's  okay and don't worry if he doesn't treat me right I will put him in his place." We both burst into laughter.  " Sorry sweetie but I have to go the nurse here is forcing me to take some pills.  I love you honey. "

" I love you too Mama." I hang up. 

Sarah calls me for breakfast.  After breakfast I go back to my room. 

I'm  so bored. There is nothing else here to do besides watch TV and I'm not used to that.  I really need to get a job.  Wait what if I do?  I get my laptop and start searching for jobs that are available.  A few companies pop up but some are far away from our apartment and some are just too low on salaries.  I come across a familiar company name.  Isn't this Matt's company.  He's looking for a new assistant and the salary is so high.  I send my CV and close my laptop.

I think I'm going to walk around the house.  I get out and as I'm walking in the hallway I pass a door.  I stand in front of the door.  It's Mathew's  office.  I wonder what's inside.  I hold the doorknob and take a deep breath as I slowly turn it.  I get inside.  There is a desk and a chair behind it and a couch across the room.  I walk towards behind the desk.  I pick up a frame on the desk.  There's a small boy who I believe is Matt and a woman who I also believe is his mother and a man who looks like his father.  They look happy really happy.  I find another frame.  A boy and a girl which is Matt and Lillian.

I put the frame down and look around.  There is a shelf full of books and next to it is a carbinet.  I walk to the cabinet.  It's full of alcohol.  Is Matt an alcoholic?  He can't be,  it doesn't suit him but once again they say never judge a book by its cover.  My phone rings and  I'm startled a little.  Matt's name is flashing on my phone screen. I answer it. 

" What are you doing in there?"  he snaps and I look around. 

How does he know I'm in here? 

" Umm...  I got... I got bored and I thought I could look ar-.... " he interrupts me. " Get the fuck out of there." I quickly get out and close the door behind me.  " Listen I don't like people messing with my shit so please stay out of my office.  I put cameras in there  only because there are important papers in there.  My door also has a sensor so I get a notification here whenever someone gets in there.  Am I clear? "
