Scared Love

Chapter 9

I wanted to tell Alex that Matt is actually my boss and husband but didn't want to hurt his feelings.  A part of me knows that he likes me but how can he like me when we just met a day ago.  I knock at Matt's office door. 

"Come in."

He's standing at the glass window looking at the lovely view of the city.  His office is nice and organised exactly like the one at the apartment.  I place the coffee on the table. 

"Black coffee no sugar." Don't ask me how I figured out Matt's favourite coffee. I just noticed it for the past few days we have lived together.  "Okay. " he simply says.  "Anything else? " he turns and looks at me. "Yes actually. " he points to the chair across his and I sit. He comes to my side and sits on the desk. "How are you my personal assistant?"he asks. "I was looking for a job and that's when I saw that your company needed a personal assistant and that's when I sent my CV.  Yesterday when I came, Karen and I talked and she said I could start on Monday but I wanted to start today." I explain. " Okay." he says and his hand slides into his hair backwards. One thing I noticed that he does when he is frustrated. 

It's now getting dark and I am so bored again.  I didn't have my lunch and I'm now kinda hungry.  I open the drawer and find a rubber band. I turn my chair. I take the rubber band and start playing with it.  Somehow it's fun to play with and I giggle. 

"Ahem... ahem" I hear behind me and my smile falls. I slowly turn my chair. Matt has his hands in front of his chest.

"Umm hey." I smile in embarrassment. " We have to go for the meeting." he says. "Okay let me get my things."

Mathew hasn't said anything since we got into the car.  I want this awkwardness to clear but I have nothing to talk about. We arrive at this fancy restaurant.  He comes to open the door far me.  He leads me to the table where a two men dressed in suits are setting.  They all stand up to greet us. 

"Mr Walker " they all shake his hand. "Gentleman this is Rosella,she's my assistant." Matt introduces me. "Rosella? As in your newly weeded wife?" one of the man asks. I didn't think people would know by now that I'm his wife.  I'm pretty sure am all over Forbes magazine. "Yes." he answers while he deadly stares at the man. "What? Who in the world has his wife as his personal assistant? That's insane. " the men laugh.  "I would die if I had my wife came to work with me. " another guy says.  "Gentleman please we just came here to talk about business." Matt says.  He looks pissed but I can tell he is trying not to loose his cool. I'm also really angry at what they are saying.  What is wrong with working with your wife? " No offense Mr Walker but that's just crazy.  I mean how will you flirt with other people at work when your wife is right there?" one of the man says.  What? I have never heard such a thing and he has the audacity to say this in front of me.  Is this what Matt does?

"Sorry to interfere but this was my decision to work with Mathew. He didn't want me to work with him but I insisted and he supported me and I don't know why you think it's wrong to work with your wife.  Do know what's wrong?,  it's flirting with your workmates.  That's just unfaithful to your wife and to you too. That's disgusting and wrong.  I'm glad I work at Mathew's company and he's happy with it too." I tell them and sit down.  They all look like they have seen a ghost and I'm proud that I have stood up for me and Matt.  They all sit down and starting talking about the company and many other things that have to do with business.  The waiter later comes with champagne and then dinner.  I have had one glass of champagne and Matt has had three.  I don't know why he's having so much alcohol tonight.

" It was great meeting you Mrs Walker. " one of the man says and they all walk out.  Rich bastard. The palm my hand covers my mouth as if I said it out loud.  Matt looks at me his eyes sparkling.  "What's wrong?" he asks.  I smile shyly. " Nothing." I lie.  "Okay fine.  Come on we have to go now."
