The phone rang as I sat down in the bath tub. I was accompanied by a flayed corpse. The man was wearing shredded shorts. His hair was tousled roughly. The man had a missing eye. I see a two inch cavity. I could stick my toothbrush into the hole and tap the wall behind him. The man stared for a moment and said, "Did Da call the pleasemen ya?" I stared at him surprised, "What" He jumped up and screamed loudly and the mirror and windows shattered. I flinched as I woke up. The phone was ringing like crazy. I wrapped a towel around me and ran to answer it. "Hello" a calm Eastern European accent. It took me a second to realize that it was Dimka. I hung up on him. He called again.

Cassie dropped by the house after I had finished my round at the precinct. She wanted to know why I was gunning for Apple. I told her that she was trying to expose me. Cassie knows that I only go after criminals. I told her that my work would have ended had she interfered. I ignored her as a rule till she threatened my ward. Cassie was shocked to hear that I was raising a stranger's kid. We walked in and I made the introduction. Cheryl shook hands with Cassie and sat back down to do a Google search. I joked, "Did someone eat the webpage you are searching for again?" The residents roared in laughter. Cassie was curious and Cheryl took a moment to explain. When Cassie understood us. She said that she is pinching that sentence. She knows quite a few people who have this problem. We both laughed recalling J. The phone rang and I picked it up. Dimka said hello and I hung up on him. Cassie asked who it was. I said that someone had dialed the wrong number.

After dinner I sat down with a cup of hot cocoa and Cassie sat down to watch me paint. She had specific questions that she wanted answers for. I answered them casually and she gave me a hug before she left. Cheryl was immersed in a book. I looked behind and saw a picture. It was of Denise Coleman. I read her books during my college days. A few months ago I actually read her statement after she was arrested for stabbing her husband to death. Cheryl gave me an alarmed look. Henry gave me a surprised look as DD confirmed it was her. Cheryl said she will ask her teacher for a different reading list. She called her friends and they spent the rest of the evening talking about everything. Tanya called as I was about to lay down. She was surprised to hear of my new responsibility. She said that we will talk in the morning. As she hung up the phone buzzed again. I took a deep breath. I guessed it was Dimka but still answered it.

It was Uncle Davis. He started to tell me that he missed me. He was wondering if I could visit. I told him that he had better luck getting struck by lightning. He pouted, "Is that anyway to talk to your uncle?" I smiled, "One day I will appear in your nightmare. I promise you dear uncle. If we meet I will make you will beg for the death penalty." Davis laughed and I hung up. I went to sleep.

I dreamt that I was in a straight jacket while dangling on my ankles. SHE came with a machete. SHE wanted details and I gave her as much as I can recall. SHE lowered me gently and helped me up. SHE stopped for a moment to think things through. SHE pushed me out of a window. I felt like I was falling for hours before I fell on the hard concrete with a bang. I jumped out of bed and summoned HER. SHE happily dials star sixty nine.

I waited till the moron answered. A bored old fart answers on the eighth ring. From the sound of his voice I would say that he was borderline angry and uninterested. I asked if I could talk to uncle Davis. I gave him my badge number. The man politely said he was sent to solitary confinement since he escaped his cell and tried to reach fresh oxygen. He made the mistake of making a phone call. After a brief punching session the guards managed to subdue him. They gave him a sedative to knock him out. So he is currently unavailable. I thanked the man and went back to sleep.

I came downstairs the next morning to see Jade staring at Cheryl. Apparently Cassie hasn't stopped talking about my personal life to everyone she knows. I asked Tanya to handle it and she did. Regardless Jade looked like I slapped her across the face. Cheryl gave me a hug and called me mom. I kissed her on the top of her head and stroked her back before getting her a glass of orange juice. I cooked breakfast for my family and sat down to eat. Jade took out her phone and recorded it. She was speechless. When we got in the car she asked me, "Why are serial killers such good parents?" I smiled, "We have a very high standard of living. Some do it to blend in. I do it out of love." She smiled at me, "I wish you were my mom. She was the worst." I smiled, "I know. I threw her in jail last week." She burst out laughing. I drove her to the comic bookstore and drove to work.

There was pandemonium as the cops were talking about a jailbreak. We had to drop whatever we were doing to head out. I got in the car with Van Pelt and her brother. He came out of concern. We drove around trying to figure out where they may have gone. I looked through the paperwork and found an easy target. They are Thomas and Edison. They used to sell drugs before they were incarcerated. There is a place that one of these knuckleheads likes to visit. It was a tavern not far from where we were. After a twenty minute drive we bumped into the crooks. They tried to bolt and I used a taser to stop one of them the other was taken down like he was a tackling dummy. Both were cuffed and dragged to the nearest patrol car. They were taken to the station. We drove around looking for the next perpetrator and found out another officer found him so we decided to find the kleptomaniac. We found him near the bus station and managed to get him before he escaped. But his friend managed to give us the slip.

Before we clocked out all the perpetrators were caught and were dragged to holding one by one. I finished my paperwork and walked out a little faster than usual. I saw the wall shift to have taxidermy human heads mounted as trophies. The armchair by the corridor looked like the leather was human skin. There was a table made from human bones. The wall began to bleed very slowly. An adult human skull looked like it was used as a paperweight. The floor had cockroaches and spiders crawling all over. I tried to calm myself down and force the hallucinations to go away. The room turned black and suddenly everything was normal.

I looked around and everyone was busy minding their own business. No one was looking at me. I quickly walked towards my locker and pulled out my purse. I closed the door to see a hooded figure leaning against the wall. It looked like it was made from smoke. It was see through and yet in 4k resolution. A few blinks later it vanished from sight. I got up and walked hastily towards my car. Van Pelt and her brother called out to me. I waved at them and got in my car and drove to see my uncle.

I got to the gates and showed my police ID to the man by the gate. He took a minute to confirm and he let me in. The warden was not so nice but he understood that this was the procedure. I told him I am here to see Davis Walker. The man was shocked to hear that. He asked me why and I said it is my business. We had a staring contest after which he escorted me to solitary confinement. My uncle was dragged out and I happily punched him in the gut. He asked me if we had met. I smiled, "Hello uncle." The warden jumped out of his skin. Apparently the entire prison has heard of me. My Uncle was very graphic about how he was going to kill me. I am the reason he is in jail to begin with. Uncle was trying to calibrate his barrings when he understood what I had said. He stood still for a moment then slowly raised his head. "Pamela? Is that you? You've grown up." His gaze stopped at the police badge on my waist and frowned. He dragged his eyeballs till he saw the business end of my side arm trained towards his face. I stared at him with the purest of loathing. And he returned the gaze with identical hatred.
