As the days passed and his parents’ departure loomed closer, Taehyung couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling in his chest. Things between him and Jayti had gotten better.....more than better, even. They had grown close in a way that was unexpected, and now he found himself dreading the thought of things going back to how they were once his parents left.

The fake marriage was the reason they were in this situation in the first place, but now that he had gotten used to their companionship, the thought of returning to a distant, formal relationship left him feeling restless. Taehyung wasn’t ready to lose the bond they had built.

He found himself venting to Jungkook during one of their practices, needing advice from someone who would understand.

“I don’t know what to do, man,” Taehyung said, pacing in the practice room as Jungkook sat on the floor, stretching. “My parents are leaving soon, and I’m afraid things are just going to go back to how they were. I don't want that.”

Jungkook tilted his head, watching Taehyung with a knowing look. “So, you don’t want her to leave you hanging, huh?”

Taehyung stopped pacing, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s not like that, but… yeah. We’ve gotten closer, and I don’t want that to disappear once they’re gone. But if I try too hard, she’s going to think I’m pushing or forcing something.”

Jungkook thought for a moment before grinning. “Why don’t you take her on a vacation? I mean, you’ve got the excuse of your parents still being here. You can make it sound like a family trip, and she won’t think too much about it.”

Taehyung blinked, taken aback. “A vacation?”

“Yeah,” Jungkook continued, clearly warming up to the idea. “Think about it. You, Jayti, and your parents, just relaxing somewhere nice. It’ll give you more time to spend with her in a different environment, and she won’t feel suspicious about it because your parents are coming. Plus, you could use a break too, right?”

Taehyung considered it, his mind racing. A vacation… it wasn’t a bad idea. It would buy him more time, give him an excuse to spend more time with Jayti without it seeming forced. And if his parents were there, it would make the whole thing seem more natural.

“Actually, that’s not a bad idea,” Taehyung said, nodding slowly. “I could say it’s a trip to thank them for coming and to relax before they leave.”

Jungkook smiled, satisfied with himself. “Exactly. She won’t suspect a thing, and you’ll get more time with her.”

Taehyung felt a flicker of hope rise in him. Maybe this could work. Maybe it would give him the opportunity to strengthen what they had built, to make sure that when his parents left, things wouldn’t just fall apart.

“Alright, I’ll do it,” Taehyung said decisively. “I’ll book the tickets tonight.”

Jungkook gave him a thumbs-up. “Good luck, man. Just don’t make it too obvious you’re doing it for her.”

That night, after practice, Taehyung sat at his computer, scrolling through vacation spots. He wanted something relaxing but not too obvious. After some thought, he settled on a quiet coastal town a few hours away—a perfect getaway for a few days where they could unwind and spend time together.

He booked the tickets, feeling a strange mix of excitement and nervousness. It wasn’t just about keeping up appearances anymore. He genuinely wanted this trip to bring him and Jayti even closer. Maybe, just maybe, it would give him the opportunity to show her that their relationship didn’t have to be fake. It could be something more.

The next day, Taehyung casually brought up the idea over breakfast, trying not to make it seem like it was solely for Jayti’s benefit.

“I was thinking,” he said as he poured himself a cup of coffee, “since my parents are leaving soon, it might be nice to take them on a small vacation before they go. You know, as a thank you for coming all the way here.”
