We arrived at the outskirts of the first town in the supposedly lighthearted Blumund Kingdom. I immediately donned my mask as we approached.
Though it wasn't the capital of Blumund, I could already sense a suspicious amount of military activity.
Tomei yawned.
But now, what should I do with our luggage and wagon? The luxurious wagon that Tempest had provided for our journey would surely attract attention if we entered the town. And I had packed an abundance of Shuna's cooking—enough to last us for months. It was all stored in a magical container to prevent spoilage.
But how do I manage all this...?
[Notice: Extra Skill "Storage" has been successfully created.]
Out of nowhere, Miss Raphael made a bold declaration.
Err, Miss Raphael? Did you just create a new skill?
[...]
Well, you created it for me, so how do I use it?
[Answer: Extra Skill "Storage" allows Master to isolate objects into a virtual space. Anything stored can be altered, duplicated, or modified. The limit depends on Master's output of magicules.]
Can this solve my luggage problem?
[That is correct.]
Wonderful! Miss Raphael.
With a flick of my fingers, a magic circle appeared beneath us, absorbing the entire wagon along with our luggage.
Tomei, startled, leaped from the wagon just before it vanished.
"Buwargg! I almost got swallowed up!" Tomei muttered, still half-asleep.
Well, that certainly made handling our luggage much easier.
"I thought devils didn't need sleep. You, of all beings, a devil of Primordial caliber, seem to nap quite a bit."
Perplexed, I voiced my thoughts to Tomei, my lone companion on this journey. She rubbed her eyes, struggling to stay awake.
"I don't know, it's just a hobby of mine. Ever since the day I was born."
Primordial Devils, beings born near the dawn of creation, were a rare breed. There were only seven of them—Tomei, the eighth, being the anomaly before me.
"Tell me, were you born like Diablo and the others?"
"No. Diablo and Guy Crimson are much older than me. I'm their equal in power, but not in lifespan."
"Impressive. I thought the older the demon, the stronger."
"That's true... for all of them, except me."
Tomei explained that, though she was indeed the 8th Progenitor Devil, she was a millennium younger than Diablo. She had more than enough power to start her own lineage of devils, but her youth set her apart.
The nature of her birth was also unlike the others.
"I wasn't created by the Dark and Light Grand Elementals like the Angels and Devils were. I came from a light."
"A light...?" I asked, as we continued walking toward the town.
"Yes, an enormous white light that passed through this world a thousand years ago," she explained. "Tomei is incredibly adept in magic, so I can describe what that light did. It was a light that traversed space and time, affecting all of creation. It disrupted the natural flow of time, and only after a century did the world stabilize and regain its balance. But it left lasting changes and brought forth new creations into this world. Tomei was born from that light—the humans called it the Great Spiritual Breach.
